NFL DFS DraftKings Cash Game Lineup – Week 2 (Main Slate – 14 Games (9/17/17)

Each week, I’ll create a cash game lineup for DraftKings. Since this is usually posted earlier in the week, the cash game lineups may change slightly by Sunday. Follow me on Twitter @fantasybeast15 for updates!

In cash games, you should always look for each player to reach at least 3x value.

DraftKings Points/(Player Salary/1000) = Value

Example: If Carson Wentz has a $5,000 salary and scored 15 DraftKings (DK) points, Wentz would reach 3x value based on the formula below.

15 DK Points/($5,000/1,000) = 3x Value

I will also present a 3x stat line. The 3x stat line is not a projection, but a hypothetical stat line that would allow the player to reach three times his value. When creating your own cash game lineup, choose players who you believe can reach the 3x stat line. If you look at a player and don’t think he can reach the 3x stat line, consider choosing a different option in your own lineup.

Week 1 Lineup Review

My week 1 cash game lineup was solid. If you made the same choices I did, you likely made money in the majority of your cash games and head-to-head matchups. Even with David Johnson’s injury and Le’Veon Bell/Brandon Marshall’s horrible performances, I was able to cash thanks to some Eagles and the Rams defense.

NFL DFS DraftKings Cash Game Lineup – Week 2

QB – Aaron Rodgers at (ATL) – $7,400

Rodgers will face the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. The Packers are slight underdogs, but the game total is currently 54 points and the Packers have an implied team total of 25.5 points. I expect a fast-paced game with plenty of passing and scoring. While Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Matt Ryan are likely the chalk quarterbacks, I’ll favor Rodgers because he’s less likely to give the ball to his running back at the goal line.

3x stat line: 255 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns = 22.2 DK Points

RB – Melvin Gordon vs. (MIA) – $7,000

I played Gordon in a few of my lineups last week and he produced well even though he was in a negative game script for running backs. He should have a better game script this week as the Chargers are favored by 3.5. Gordon is one of the rare running backs in the league who receives the early carries, the goal line carries, and the receiving work. At just $7,000, Gordon is one of my favorite plays this week because even if the Dolphins take a lead, Gordon will be involved in the receiving work during a comeback attempt.

3x stat line: 17 carries, 80 rushing yards, 4 catches, 30 yards, 1 total touchdown = 21.0 DK Points

RB – Ty Montgomery at (ATL) – $5,800

Montgomery is the first player in my lineups this week. He was an absolute workhorse for the Packers, playing 74 snaps and recording 90.5% of the team’s carries (according to PFF’s Scott Barrett). The Falcons haven’t been able to stop receiving RBs over the past few seasons which was evident with Tarik Cohen’s breakout game last week. I expect Montgomery to catch quite a few passes while also dominating the carries for the Packers. All of this volume on a full PPR site for $5,800 seems too good to be true.

3x stat line: 15 carries, 60 rushing yards, 6 catches, 54 receiving yards = 17.4 DK Points

RB – James White at (NO) – $4,000

I expected to see White priced higher to start this season, but will gladly take the discount before his price rises. While everyone’s attention is on Mike Gillislee’s three touchdowns, I was encouraged by White’s ten rushing attempts. We know White will see receiving work in the Patriots offense, but I never expected him to see double-digit carries. In a game where the Patriots have a team total of more than 30 points, I’m looking for cheap access to that total. White provides that access while also providing upside on PPR sites like DraftKings.

3x stat line: 7 carries, 30 rushing yards, 5 catches, 40 receiving yards = 12.0 DK Points

RB – Jacquizz Rodgers vs. (CHI) – $4,400

Rodgers faces the Bears at home in a game where the Buccaneers are favored by a full touchdown. Many will target Tarik Cohen in this matchup, but I’d rather target the workhorse RB on the team that is favored for just $300 more. The game script should set up well for Rodgers and although we haven’t seen the Buccaneers offense this year, it seems likely Rodgers will contend for 20+ touches.

3x stat line: 19 carries, 82 rushing yards, 3 catches, 20 receiving yards = 13.2 DK Points

WR – Julio Jones vs. (GB) – $9,200

Jones will face the Packers in a home game where the Falcons have a team total of 28.5. He has one of the best matchups on the slate against Damarious Randall and Davon House. The Bears have done a great job limiting WR1 since John Fox took over as head coach, so I’ll chalk Jones’ performace last week up to that. I expect him to be involved in a big way against the Packers and will gladly pay up for him in this matchup.

3x stat line: 8 catches, 106 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown = 27.6 DK Points

WR – Stefon Diggs vs. (PIT) – $6,100

Diggs is in a unique situation where week 2 pricing was out before he went off for 27.7 DK points on Monday Night Football. He ran a bit hot, catching 88% of his targets and finding the end zone twice, but Diggs is a fantastic receiver in an underrated offense. I expect Diggs to be priced in the 7-8K range in the near future, so I’ll jump on him while his price is low. Diggs has a solid matchup as he’ll likely see Joe Haden on the majority of his routes. Haden used to be one of the best corners in the league, but his days as a lock down corner are in the past.

3x stat line: 6 catches, 63 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown = 18.3 DK Points

TE – Coby Fleener vs. (NE) – $3,100

As with James White, I’m looking for cheap volume in the Patriots vs. Saints game. This game has a game total of 55.5, so I want exposure, but it is difficult to jam in the high priced players. Fleener allows access to the game while providing clear value. The Patriots usually try to take out the leading weapon in the offense, and I expect Bill Belichick to focus on the Saints receiving backs or Michael Thomas. This should leave more targets for Fleener who has been effective when Willie Snead misses time.

3x stat line: 4 catches, 53 receiving yards = 9.3 DK Points

D/ST – Oakland Raiders vs. (NYJ) – $3,500

The Raiders face the Jets in a home game where the Jets have a team total of 15.25 points. The Jets don’t have any real playmakers on their offense and the Raiders should win this game handily. Whenever I can target a defense with a positive game script against a bad offense, I at least have tournament exposure to them. When they come at a solid price, I frequently lock them in.

3x stat line: 14-20 points against, 4 sacks, 3 turnovers = 11.0 DK Points (3.14x)

Also considering:

Marqise Lee vs. (TEN) – $3,800
Emmanuel Sanders vs. (DAL) – $5,200
Tom Brady at (NO) – $7,900
Larry Fitzgerald at (IND) – $6,500
J.J. Nelson at (IND) – $3,800
Buccaneers D/ST vs. (CHI) – $3,200
