NFL DFS DraftKings Value Plays – Week 4

Welcome to the Chicago Bears edition of the DraftKings Value plays for Week 4 including three Bears at dirt cheap prices in a good matchup at home against the Lions. The Bears “love” (pains me to say those words together as a Packers fan) is all about Jay Cutler missing another game this weekend. If Cutler plays scratch all the Bears off this list, as I, like many others, “hate” Cutler. Enough Bears talk for now, here are the DraftKings value plays for Week 4.

NFL DFS DraftKings Value Plays for Week 4

Quarterbacks

Brian Hoyer (CHI) vs DET $5,000 (DailyFantasyNerd Value Play of the Day)

As I mentioned in the open I feel the Bears value all hinges on Hoyer getting the start again this week. If Hoyer plays, then he makes for an excellent value play priced at the minimum $5,000 salary. Hoyer put up 317 yards and 2 TD last week against the Cowboys and should be able to post similar numbers this week against a Lions defense that has allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season.

Trevor Siemian (DEN) @ TB $5,400

Siemian proved last week that he is capable of producing a big fantasy day with 312 yards passing and 4 TDs. He should get another opportunity to shine this week on the road against a Buccaneers defense that is solid against the run but struggles against the pass allowing an average of 281 yards and 2.33 TD passes per game so far this season.

Running Backs

Spencer Ware (KC) @ PIT $5.700

Ware is the 14th most expensive RB on the full slate this week priced at $5,700 but I still feel he represents value at the position this week and could be fairly low owned. I expect Jamaal Charles to miss another game allowing Ware to see a full workload against the Steelers defense that has allowed three rushing touchdowns and two 100-yard receiving games, a feat that Ware also accomplished in Week 1. With his involvement in the running and passing game, Ware offers a high floor and solid upside without breaking the bank.

Jordan Howard (CHI) vs DET $3,700

Howard should be the workhorse back for the Bears this week with both Jeremy Langford and Ka’Deem Carey both expected to be out. Look for Howard to see around 20 touches against a Lions defense that has allowed 5.31 yards per carry to opposing RB through the first three games of the season. Howard is the one Bears’ player that could still be worth starting even if Cutler plays just because of the volume of touches expected for such a low salary.

Wide Receivers

Tyrell Williams (SD) vs NO $4,400

When you are building a DFS lineup it is always good to have some exposure to the offense facing the weak Saints’ defense. Williams is a solid value option to get some exposure this week. The Saints have allowed solid games to #2 WR so far this season allowing 7-87-0 to Michael Crabtree in Week 1 and 8-117-1 to Sterling Shepard in Week 2. With more of the Chargers’ passing game funneling to the wide receivers and Williams immense talent he has the potential for a huge game.

Terrelle Pryor (CLE) @ WAS $4,300

Pryor did a little bit of everything last week for the Browns on his way to a huge fantasy day. This week I expect a lot of non-believers as he goes up against Josh Norman and the Redskins. But with his price tag still low and with a high volume of targets and touches expected as the top offensive weapon on the field for the Browns, I expect him to produce another strong game worthy of his $4,300 salary.

Tight Ends

Coby Fleener (NO) @ SD $3,200

Fleener broke out on Monday night against the Falcons for seven catches for 109 yards and a score. His targets have increased each week from 4 to 8 to 11 as he is starting to get on the same page as Drew Brees. Fleener has a great matchup this week against the Chargers in a game that is expected to be a shootout. The Chargers have allowed an average of 7.7 catches for 94 yards and 0.33 TD to opposing TE this season.

Zach Miller (CHI) vs DET $2,700

Miller had a great connection with Brian Hoyer last week and should have success again this week if Hoyer is under center again for the Bears. Miller will face a Lions’ defense that has already allowed 216 yards and five touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season. If Cutler plays than look elsewhere for your tight end. Consider a pivot to Hunter Henry at the same price if Cutler plays.

Defense

Ravens (BAL) vs OAK $2,400

While the Raiders have only been sacked twice with just one turnover through the first three games this season they have faced three weak defenses in the Saints, Falcons and Titans. Meanwhile, the Ravens defense has racked up nine sacks and forced five turnovers through three games. Something has to give this week and with the Raiders traveling across the country for an early game on Sunday, give me a piece of the Ravens defense playing at home with a cheap price tag this week.

The GoingFor2 Live Podcast

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
