NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 16

Welcome to the Week 16 edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPP plays. This article will focus on the main slate on FanDuel, which features 12 games this week. Just as a reminder, this article is not meant to be an actual FanDuel GPP lineup, but rather an article focusing on some good stand alone options for your GPP lineup. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite GPP options for Week 16.

NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 16

DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day

David Johnson (ARI) @ SEA $8,700
David Johnson has a tough matchup this week, but that should not worry you since he was able to gain a total of 171 yards on 33 carries and eight receptions against the Seahawks in Week 7. I do worry that his ownership will not be as suppressed as I thought it would be initially since they have him priced down more than one thousand dollars less than last week. With that being said, we still should not see him ownership as high as 35% or 40% in GPPs like we have seen the past couple of weeks.

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers (GB) vs. MIN $8,600

I imagine that Aaron Rodgers will not be a popular choice at quarterback this week since Drew Brees is $100 less and in a much better matchup. Anytime you can get such an elite player like Aaron Rodgers at low ownership you definitely have to consider him for your GPP lineup. On paper he does have a tough matchup against the Vikings. However, they have not been the same defense that they were in the first few weeks of the season.

Blake Bortles (JAC) vs. TEN $6,200
Blake Bortles has been awful for most of this season. However, maybe the firing of Gus Bradley this week will fire their players up a little this week. Bortles does have a great matchup this Saturday against the Titans, who have allowed the fourth-most FanDuel points to quarterbacks this season. Back in Week 8, Bortles easily had his best of the season throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns against the Titans.

Running Backs

Todd Gurley (LA) vs. SF $7,900
Todd Gurley has obviously been one of the biggest season long busts of 2016. However, he has a golden matchup against the 49ers who have been dreadful against this run this season, allowing 5.0 yards per carry. I believe that FanDuel has raised his price enough that some people will really have to think hard on whether or not they want to lock him into their GPP lineups this week. At low ownership, I’m definitely willing to jump aboard this week.

Robert Kelley (WAS) @ CHI $5,800
If it wasn’t for a five yard touchdown, Robert Kelley would have had a pretty awful game on Monday night only rushing for eight yards on nine carries. Kelley should be able to bounce back against the Bears this week. The Bears have been banged up on defense and have not been doing nearly as well against the run in recent weeks.

Wide Receivers
Jordy Nelson (GB) vs. MIN  $7,700

Jordy Nelson makes for a great GPP stack with the aforementioned Rodgers against the Vikings this week. Initially this looks like a difficult matchup for Nelson. However, Nelson was able to do well against the Vikings’ secondary earlier this season with five receptions, 73 yards and a touchdown. We could see a similar stat line this week since the Vikings have been struggling a little bit on defense recently.

Allen Robinson (JAC) vs. TEN $5,600
Allen Robinson is another player who has been extremely disappointing this season. However, I believe he could be a sneaky value GPP option for Week 16 against the Titans. The Titans have been awful at defending opposing wide receivers this season allowing the fourth-most FanDuel points, including 15 touchdowns. Robinson had a solid game against the Titans back in Week 8 with 13 targets, six receptions and 60 yards.

DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) vs. JAC $6,600
DeAndre Hopkins looked like a child on Christmas morning when Tom Savage replaced the struggling Brock Osweiler in Week 15 against the Jaguars. Hopkins caught eight of his 17 targets for 87 yards. The targets were a season-high and doubled his season average. I don’t expect him to have 18 targets every week with Savage behind center. However, it would not surprise me at all if he had 15 targets this week. The matchup is tough for Hopkins this week, but Hopkins is still one of the most talented wide receivers in the league and at this salary I am willing to have some exposure to him in GPP contests.

Tight End

Tyler Eifert (CIN) @ HOU $6,700
Tyler Eifert laid an egg in Week 15 against the Steelers with only one reception and nine yards. The matchup does not look great for a bounce back performance this week, but Eifert is one of the best tight ends in the league and the return of AJ Green for the Bengals should make it so that the Texans cannot put all of their focus on Eifert.

Defense

Packers (GB) vs. MIN $4,600
Despite allowing 27 points last week to the Bears, the Packers played pretty well on the defensive side of the ball considering most of the damage was done late in the game when game was essentially already out of hand. The Packers should do better this week at home against the Vikings, who just made the Colts’ mediocre defense look great this past week.
