NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 5

Welcome to the Week 5 edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPP plays. Week 4 is once again a smaller slate since there are four teams on the bye. I think this is a great week to enter some GPP contests since there are a lot of chalky options on the slate. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite GPP options for Week 5.

NFL Fandeul Lineup 10/9/16

NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 5

DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day

WR Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) @ GB $8,500

Odell Beckham Jr. is my DailyFantasyNerd play of the day for Week 5. Everyone is down on Beckham, and I think that is a huge mistake. He is still one of the most talented receivers in the league and he just needs one good game to build his confidence back up. That one game very well could be this week against the Packers, who were torched by Marvin Jones Jr. in Week 3, allowing over 200 yards and two touchdowns to him.

Quarterbacks

Andrew Luck (IND) vs. CHI $8,600

Andrew Luck has looked awful so far this season, but that has more to do with the offensive line than himself. This is not an excuse, but the Colts have played some teams that do have a really good pass rush. That will not be the case this week against the Bears. The Bears currently rank 23rd in sack percentage. We saw in Week 1 what Luck can do when he is not running for his life, so if the Colts can keep him protected he is going to put up huge numbers.

Derek Carr (OAK) vs. SD $8,100

I have not seen a lot of buzz about Derek Carr this week, which means he could come in at a lower ownership in GPPs. Vegas currently has this game as the highest projected total on the board, and they are predicting that this will be a close game. Opposing teams are averaging 307 passing yards per game against the Chargers this season and the Chargers have allowed two passing touchdowns in three out of the the four games.

Running Backs

C.J. Anderson (DEN) vs. ATL $8,000

It seems that Le’Veon Bell and DeMarco Murray are going to be the chalky, high priced running backs for Week 5. That means C.J. Anderson could fly under the radar this week. Outside of Week 3, Anderson has had at least 18 carries and a touchdown in each game. He has a great matchup against the Falcons in Week 5, who have struggled at defending the run this season.

Theo Riddick (DET) vs. PHI $6,200

Last week I whiffed on Dwayne Washington, so this week I’m going to go with Theo Riddick. It is looking like Washington may sit out this week with an injury to his ankle. Riddick is already involved in the Lions’ passing game, but if Washington is in fact out Riddick could also see a boost in carries as well.

Todd Gurley (LA) vs. BUF  $7,600

Another running back who is on nobody’s radar this week is Todd Gurley. The talent and the volume is still there, but defenses are loading up the box against him since they know Case Keenum is not that good. One of these weeks Gurley is going to bust through the loaded box for a really long touchdown, and it very well could be this week against the middle of the pack Bills’ defense.

Wide Receivers

Brandon Marshall (NYJ) vs. PIT $7,600

Brandon Marshall is the type of guy who really gets up for big games. If you recall at the end of July, Marshall bet Antonio Brown that he would have more receiving yards this season. If Marshall wins, Brown has to give up his Rolls-Royce. If Brown wins, Marshall has to give up his Porsche. Brown is currently leading 369 to 249, so Marshall should be highly motivated to close that gap by putting up a huge game this week.

Amari Cooper (OAK) vs. SD $7,200

Amari Cooper has been solid this season with 35 targets, 20 receptions and 318 receiving yards. He just has not been able to find the end zone yet. Michael Crabtree has clearly been the leading receiving for the Raiders and he is on pace to score 16 touchdowns this season. We all know that Crabtree will not score 16 touchdowns and at some point he is going to regress towards the mean. At some point Amari Cooper is going to be the one who finds the end zone, and I’m willing to take a chance on him this week since everyone will be gravitating towards Crabtree.

Emmanuel Sanders (DEN) vs. ATL $7,100

Emmanuel Sanders came through for us in Week 4 and I think he can do so again in Week 5. It does not appear that many people realize that Emmanuel Sanders is the top receiver for the Broncos right now. Sanders has 15 more targets than Demaryius Thomas and he has a great matchup against the Falcons this week, who have allowed six receiving touchdowns to wide receivers this season.

Tight Ends

Rob Gronkowski (NE) @ CLE $7,200

Rob Gronkowski has burned a lot of people in season long leagues after being active in each of the past two games. I think a lot of DFS players will be avoiding him this week so I will not be hesitant to use him in my GPP lineup. Gronk is always capable of putting up a monster game and he very well could do it this week in a great matchup and with the return of Tom Brady.

Delanie Walker (TEN) @ MIA $6,400

Delanie Walker is another tight end who could have low ownership this week since he had a poor performance in Week 4. Walker is still an integral part of the Titans’ offense and if they want to be successful, Marcus Mariota is going to have to continue to target him.  Walker has a great matchup this week against the Dolphins, who have been brutal at defending the tight end this season.

Defense

Rams (LA) vs. BUF $4,700

LeSean McCoy has been excellent so far this season, but I think the Rams could slow him down this week. Tyrod Taylor has not looked good at all this season, so I could really see the Rams loading up the box on McCoy with their strong front seven. If they can contain McCoy this week, the Rams’ defense could have a big game this week.

Broncos (DEN) vs. ATL $5,100

I don’t see many people paying up for the Broncos’ defense since they are priced so high and since the Falcons have been amazing on offense so far this season. The Broncos very well could give up a few points this week, but they are always capable of racking up a bunch of sacks and forcing turnovers.
