NFL DFS Value Plays-Week 10
As seems to be frequently happening over the last couple of weeks, injuries continue to pop up to key players. On Friday, it was announced that both Alvin Kamara(knee) and Nick Chubb(Covid-19 restrictions) will miss Sunday’s games.
Once again, there will be four teams on bye in week ten. These four teams are: 1) Bears; 2) Bengals; 3) Texans; and 4)Giants. The three “prime time” games include: 1) Thursday Night-Ravens @ Dolphins; 2) Sunday Night- Chiefs @ Raiders; and 3) Monday Night- Rams @ 49ers. Although some talent is missing from the “main slate” due to byes and prime time games , it is not an overwhelming amount.
Week Nine Review:
Although week nine provided several suggestions that provided double digit performances, it lacked a true blockbuster performance. My best suggestions included: 1) Myles Gaskin(53 total yards with a touchdown and 6 receptions-17.3 PPR fantasy points); 2) A.J. Dillon( 90 total yards with four receptions-13 fantasy points); 3) Hunter Renfrow( 7 catches for 49 yards and a touchdown-17.9 fantasy points); and 4) Jerry Jeudy(6 catches for 69 yards-12.9 fantasy points).
Quarterbacks:

Matt Ryan(Falcons) $6k @ Cowboys on the season, Ryan has completed 209 of 301 pass attempts( 69.4 percent) for 2157 yards and 15 touchdowns. In last week’s 27-25 win at the Saints, he threw for a season high 343 yards.
The question begs to answer, “can Ryan keep this up in week ten at the Cowboys”? The matchup against a Cowboys’ defense that gives up the fourth most fantasy points to QBs suggests that it is entirely possible. DFS players should view him as a low end QB1 this week.
Carson Wentz( Colts) $5900 vs Jaguars Wentz extended his streak of having multiple touchdown passes to 6 in week nine against the Jets. For the season, Wentz has completed 190 of 300 pass attempts for 2198 yards and 17 touchdowns.
In week ten, Wentz will take on a Jaguars’ defense that gives up the 9th most fantasy points to quarterbacks. With an implied total of 27, Wentz should finish as a top ten quarterback at a bargain basement price.
Running Backs:
D’Earnest Johnson(Browns) $4700 @ Patriots as mentioned in the article preview, Nick Chubb will miss week ten due to COVID restrictions. With Kareem Hunt still on IR, Johnson will have the role of a three-down back. In week eight vs the Broncos, as the starter, Johnson registered 22 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown, while adding two catches for 22 yards.
Repeating similar stats to the Broncos’ game will not be an easy task against a Patriots’ defense that allows the 15th most fantasy points to RBs. That being said, Johnson should be an opportunity-based top 15 running back this weekend.
Embed from Getty ImagesMark Ingram(Saints) $4500 @ Titans just like Johnson, Ingram will get an opportunity for a full-time role-playing at the Titans. Since coming over from the Texans after week seven, Ingram has rushed 15 times for 70 yards in two games. He has also added seven catches( on seven targets) for 46 yards.
Although the matchup against a Titans’ defense that allows the eighth fewest fantasy points to RBs will prove to be difficult, Ingram can be used a solid RB2 option. As less than 3 point underdogs, Ingram should garnish 15 plus touches.
Wide Receivers:
Fantasy Football Breakout Candidate: Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy(Broncos) $5300 vs Eagles after missing six games with an ankle injury, Jeudy has led the team in targets over the last two games. He has amassed ten catches(on 12 targets) for 108 yards and no touchdowns.

Not blessed with an easy matchup(the Eagles give up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to WRs), I am banking on Jeudy’s talent and overall opportunity to select him as one of my favorite value plays. Jeudy should finish as a top 24 wide receiver this week.
Marvin Jones(Jaguars) $5800 @ Indy although not quite as much of a bargain-basement price as I typically suggest, I love Jones’ matchup against a Colts’ defense which allows the fourth-most fantasy points to WRs.
Despite the fact that Jones has struggled in four of the last five games(recording less than 35 yards in each of those games), I look for Jones to have a breakout game and finish as a top 25 receiver this week.
Tight End:
Pat Freiermuth (Steelers) $3900 vs Lions over his last three games, Freiermuth has recorded 16 catches( on 20 targets) for 145 yards and three touchdowns. With a matchup against a Lions’ defense that allows the 11th fewest fantasy points to TEs on the horizon, he should continue this production and finish as a top-eight tight end option this week.
Dan Arnold(Jaguars) $3500 @ Colts on the season, Arnold has 29 catches for 332 yards and zero touchdowns. Over the past two games, he has 12 catches(on 17 targets) for 128 yards. With Arnold facing a Colts’ defense that allows the fifth-most fantasy points to TEs, he has every opportunity to finish as a top ten tight end in week ten.
