NFL DFS Value Plays Week 15 – FanDuel

FanDuel Value Plays for Week 15

Week 15 is setting up nicely with some strong value options to use as your base while paying up for your favorite RB or QB/WR stack.

The intent is not to play this exact lineup as it will come in well below the Salary Cap but to use the players as a baseline of value options which can then be upgraded to a better player with a higher salary at a few of the positions.

So onto the value plays for Week 15…

Quarterbacks

nfl fanduel lineup week 15 2017

Nick Foles (PHI) @ NYG $6,000
Foles will take over at QB for the Eagles with the season-ending injury to Carson Wentz. Foles is a solid QB who has a career 2-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio and while the Eagles offense won’t be as good as it was with Wentz, I also don’t expect it to fall off a cliff either. He comes in a with a very cheap salary in his first week as a starter in a very favorable matchup against the division-rival Giants who have a depleted secondary and has allowed 275 passing yards (31st) and 2 TD passes (30th) per game this season.

Running Backs

nfl fanduel lineup week 15

Kenyan Drake (MIA) @ BUF $6,500
Drake gets to take advantage of Monday night pricing this week coming off back-to-back huge games where he averaged 167 total yards and found the end zone once. Next stop on the Drake express is Buffalo who has been who ranks dead last in rushing yards allowed and TDs allowed to opposing RBs this season. Love the Drake!

Alex Collins (BAL) @ CLE $6,600
Collins has hit paydirt in four straight games, yet his salary is still under $7k on FanDuel. He is coming off his best game of his career with 166 total yards and a score against the Steelers. Collins’ matchup this week with the Browns seems to be a tough one if you look at Football Outsiders DVOA rankings which has the Browns as the #1 run defense. However, the Browns have allowed an opposing RB to top 100 total yards in four straight weeks and Collins should have a positive game script working in his favor.

Wide Receivers

nfl fanduel lineup week 15 2017Stefon Diggs (MIN) vs CIN $6,800
Diggs has been fairly quiet recently with only one game over 70 yards and one touchdown over the last six games. However, I have a hunch that Diggs is going to put up a big game this week against the Bengals this week. He has been better at home this season averaging six catches for 99 yards and one score per game in four home starts. Diggs could also see a boost in red zone targets this week with TE Kyle Rudolph expected to miss the game.

Marquise Goodwin (SF) vs TEN $6,600
Goodwin looks like he is turning into the go-to WR for Jimmy Garoppolo in San Fran. In Garoppolo’s two starts, Goodwin has 20 targets with 14 receptions for 205 yards. He hasn’t found the end zone yet but a matchup with the Titans’ secondary that has allowed 1.15 TDs (28th) per game to opposing WRs this season could change that this week.

Dede Westbrook (JAC) vs HOU $5,700
Westbrook has been one of the top targets for Blake Bortles since he took the field in Week 11 with 33 targets for 20 receptions, 235 yards and 1 TD over four weeks. Westbrook’s salary has somehow stayed under $6k and now he and the Jaguars get a favorable matchup at home against the Texans’ secondary that has allowed 161 receiving yards (26th) per game to opposing WRs and a lot of big plays giving up 14.6 YPC (31st). One big play is all Westbrook needs to pay off his salary.

Tight Ends

nfl fanduel value plays week 15 2017Greg Olsen (CAR) vs GB $5,600
Olsen only has one catch for 10 yards in his first two games since returning from injury. So, why recommend him? He played on 92% of the offensive snaps for the Panthers last week and it is only a matter of time before he starts to reconnect with Cam Newton. The Packers are decent against TEs but they have compiled about four receptions for 50 yards and 0.6 TDs per game over the last five weeks. Four catches, 50 yards and a score is plenty for Olsen to top 2x his salary and he could do much more.

Kicker & Defense

Robbie Gould (SF) vs TEN $4,500
What does a guy have to do to get some respect from the FanDuel pricing algorithm? Gould has scored 15 and 17 FanDuel points respectively over the last two weeks, yet his salary remains at the minimum $4,500. On top of that, he is 30-of-32 on FGs this season and faces a Titans’ team that has allowed the most FG attempts per game (3.2) over the last five weeks. There is no need use anyone other than Gould in every FD lineup this week.

Saints (NO) vs NYJ $4,600
As I often do, I’m breaking my under $4,500 rule for my defensive value selection this week. There is such a big gap between the Saints at $4,600 and the rest of the defense option below them. The Saints’ defense could have a big game on Sunday as a 16-point home favorite against Bryce Petty and the Jets (sounds like an Elton John song). Petty has thrown seven picks in just 142 career attempts and the Jets have allowed 3.25 sacks per game over the last five weeks.

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
