NFL DFS Value Plays-Week 8

After last week’s enormous bye bonanza, only two teams(Raiders and Ravens) are on bye in week eight. In addition to the two byes, the “Prime Time” schedule is as follows: 1) Thursday Night-Packers @ Cardinals; 2) Sunday Night-Cowboys @ Vikings; and 3) Monday Night-Giants @ Chiefs.

Week Seven Review

Week seven turned out to be a week of mostly hits, with a couple of misses. Quarterback turned out to be the position of the most impactful suggestions. Both Matt Ryan( 25-40 for 336 passing yards and two touchdowns) and Tua Tagovailoa(32-40 for 291 passing yards and four touchdowns) had great days, while allowing for lineup flexibility.

Several other position players produced double digit scoring days. These included: 1) Devonta Freeman(4 rushes for 14 yards and a touchdown/ 3 catches for 25 yards-12.9 PPR fantasy points; 2) Rashod Bateman(3 catches for 80 yards-11 fantasy points); Zach Ertz(3 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown- 15.6 fantasy points); and 4) Hunter Henry( 2 catches for 22 yards and a TD-10.2 fantasy points)

Quarterbacks:

Carson Wentz(Colts) $5700 vs Titans in week 7’s 30-18 rain filled win at the 49ers, Wentz completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while adding a rushing touchdown. This marked the fourth consecutive game with two passing touchdowns. On the season, Wentz has completed 141 of 219 attempts for 1695 yards and 11 TD’s.

In week 8, Wentz’s Colts host a Titans’ defense that allows the eighth most fantasy points to QBs. With an implied total of 26, DFS players should view Wentz as a top 12 option this week.

Fantasy Football Week 8 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Trevor Lawrence( $5500)@ Seahawks after a really rough start to his rookie campaign(7 interceptions in the first three games), Lawrence has settled down in the last three games. He has completed 65 of 98 for 796 yards and two touchdowns over that span, while adding two rushing TD’s.

In week 8, the Jaguars travel to Seattle to face a Seahawks’ defense that allows the 15th most fantasy points to QBs. Lawrence seems primed for his second multiple TD passing game of his career, and will offer an ability to pay up at other positions.

Running Backs:

Khalil Herbert($5400) vs 49ers Herbert recorded his second straight game with over 100 total yards in week seven’s 38-3 loss to the Bucs. Herbert finished the day with 18 carries for 100 yards, while adding five catches for 33 more yards. The five catches were an added bonus, as Herbert had had only two other catches on the season.

In week eight, Herbert faces a 49ers’ defense that allows the 15th most fantasy points to RBs. With an implied total of 18, DFS players would love to see Herbert continue to have a role in the passing game. He should be viewed as a top 20 running back, with upside for more.

Kenneth Gainwell(Eagles) $5k @ Lions after Miles Sanders left week seven’s game early with an ankle injury, Gainwell had 5 rushes for 20 yards. He also added four catches( on eight targets) for 41 yards and a touchdown.

With Sanders being placed on short term IR on Friday, Gainwell should continue to have a role. The Lions allow the fifth most fantasy points to RBs, and the Eagles’ implied total is 26. Just like Herbert, Gainwell should be a top 20 running back in week eight, with the upside to finish in the top 15.

Wide Receivers:

Jerry JeudyBroncos) $4800 vs Washington Football Team as the attached article suggests, the Broncos are hopeful that Jeudy returns after a six game absence(ankle injury). In his only game action back in week one, Jeudy had six catches(on seven targets) for 72 yards.

Jeudy would return to one of the top matchups on the slate, as Washington gives up the second most fantasy points to WRs. With an implied total of 24, DFS players should consider Jeudy a free square if he plays.

Michael Pittman(Colts) $5300 vs Titans as part of one of the least expensive quality stacks on the slate, Pittman offers great standalone value as well. On the season, Pittman has 40 catches( on 61 targets) for 508 yards and two touchdowns. Both of these TD’s have come over the last three games.

The only team to give up more fantasy points to WRs than Washington is the Titans. With an implied total of 26, Pittman should finish week eight as a top twenty wide receiver.

Tight Ends:

Tyler Higbee(Rams) $4500 @ Texans although Higbee has failed to cross the fifty yard receiving mark over the last six games, he faces a Texans’ defense that allows the fourth most fantasy points to TEs. With an implied total of 31, and most top TEs not available as part of this slate, Higbee has the chance to be a top four option for DFS players.

C.J. Uzomah(Bengals)$3700 @ Jets Uzomah had his second two touchdown performance of the year in week seven’s 41-17 win over the Ravens. This also marked his fifth touchdown over the last four games. Although his limited targets( 14 over that four game stretch) are a concern, DFS players should roll the dice on Uzomah at this price point.
