NFL DFS Week 2: Spade or Fade? (#FantasyFootball)

Welcome back to Week 2 NFL DFS Spade or Fade?  Each week we break down high-profile players before kickoff and give them the designation of either Spade or Fade. Spade will be players that we feel have a good matchup, these guys are players that we suggest inserting into your DraftKings or FanDuel lineups. Fade are players we suggest to pivot off of.

SPADE Patrick Mahomes QB KC

Mahomes was unleashed in a very impressive performance in Week 1 on the road versus the Chargers. The Chiefs could very well be

this year most “fun” team to watch this season. Now that the first “official game” jitters are out of the way for the free-spirited Mahomes, it’s time for Mahomes and Andy Reid to build on that success versus the Steelers. The Steelers held the Browns to just 197 yards passing but they were dinged for 177 on the ground. Mahomes and Hunt will be too much to handle, and Tyreek Hill is starting to blossom into one of the leagues most dynamic exciting talents.

FADE Chris Carson/ Rashaad Penny RB SEA

The Seahawks and Bears square off Monday night in a game that currently holds one of the lower combined totals of the week. The Bears, even though narrowly defeated by the Packers in Week 1, were led by an outstanding performance by Khalil Mack (A sack, forced fumble, and a pick-six). They only allowed 69 yards rushing to the Packers who have a similar running back approach, which at this point, is by committee. Carson and Penny have plenty of upsides, but this matchup on the road to a very much improved, rejuvenated Bears squad looks to be too much to handle for the young duo.

SPADE JuJu Smith-Schuster WR PIT

Smith-Schuster gets another great matchup in a game that should have plenty of offense. Last week Schuster was a great value play against the Browns and he once again is in a very good situation against the Chiefs. Chances are very likely that both teams will be stretching the field as homerun type plays will no doubt be commonplace. James Conner and Antonio Brown will be plenty to handle for the Chiefs as it is. The team total is at 29 for the Steelers, and for good reason. Also of note, the Chiefs were burned for 424 yards through the air last week in their victory over the Chargers.

FADE Kenyan Drake RB MIA

The New York Jets came out of the gate on fire in Monday nights dismantling of the Detroit Lions. They stifled the Lions running game to a paltry 39 yards rushing. Drake, although featured a fair amount in the 27-20 win against the Titans (14 carries for 49 yards), is still part of a two-pronged attack with veteran Frank Gore who went for 61 yards on 9 totes.

Drake and Gore have the potential to be good value play all season long but they are up against a team that will no doubt ride the momentum from such an impressive first game on the road.

Good luck to one and all for Week 2! As always, keep it locked to goingfor2.com the whole NFL season!
