NFL Week 8 DFS Spade or Fade?(#FantasyFootball)

Welcome to Week 8! This is Spade or Fade for Daily Fantasy. We examine two players that we are endorsing as good plays to include in your lineup. We also give you two players that should be bypassed in favour of a player that has a better matchup for the week.

SPADE
Karel Hunt RB KC

KANSAS CITY, MO – OCTOBER 21: Running back Kareem Hunt #27 of the Kansas City Chiefs runs down field during the second half against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 21, 2018 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Peter G. Aiken/Getty Images)

Aside front Todd Gurley is there anyone running (no pun intended) as hot as Kareem Hunt night now? The Chiefs offense is very explosive and they could be just scratching the surface especially when it comes to the ground attack. Hunt’s draftkings price is at $7,100 right now and my guess is that it will surpass everyone except Gurley in the upcoming weeks. Hunt just went bonkers on the Bengals in Week 7, 37.1 pts, three total touchdowns. Week 8 looks really good for Hunt as they draw the number 31 ranked rushing defense in the Denver Broncos. The Broncos where absolutely gashed, and I mean GASHED over a three week stretch recently. Check these rush yard totals given up; Week 4, Chiefs:142, Week 6, Rams:270, and finally unbelievably 323!! TO THE JETS! in Week 5. There are 6 running backs with higher price tags then Hunt this week, most if not all will provide a good return but Hunt is really leaning towards having another big day on home turf, seems like you can’t go wrong with this selection.

FADE
Jordan Reed TE WAS

When healthy Jordan Reed has been one of the more dependable players on the Redskins over the last five years or thereabouts . This year health is not an issue, this year for some reason, it has been poor performances that have held up Reed. Only eight receptions over the last three weeks. What is more of a concern is that in those games Reed was only targeted 15 times by QB Alex Smith suggesting that Reed is perhaps lower on the pecking order this year. The matchup this week is actually pretty good for the Redskins offense as they face the number 18 ranked defense New York Giants but we just haven’t seen enough yet from Reed to justify slotting him in at tight end. Heck I would play Greg Olson who draws the stingy Ravens for $300 less.

SPADE
Marlon Mack RB IND

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – OCTOBER 21: Marlon Mack #25 of the Indianapolis Colts runs the ball in the fourth quarter against the Buffalo Billsat Lucas Oil Stadium on October 21, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

Week 7 proved to be a coming out party for the third year running back. Mack had a career best 21 touches for 159 scrimmage yards. The 31.9 PTS, also a career best, where near double his previous best of 16.3 in Week 5 of last year. This was Mack’s second straight strong performance,  Week 6 he had 93 scrimmage yards on 13 touches. Week 7 Mack and the Colts will face an Oakland Raiders squad that is clearly looking ahead to next year as injuries and player departures have really made it difficult for them to compete this year. It will only set you back $ 5,400 for Mack. Slotting Mack and Hunt as your running backs will be very doable and won’t break the bank. The Colts could easily go up big on the Raiders so they may just hand the ball over in the later stages to secure the win.

Mark Ingram RB NO

The New Orleans Saints draw another tough matchup for Week 8’s tilt against the Minnesota Vikings. They were able to weather the storm for a tight road win last week against the Ravens. Running back Mark Ingram has yet to cement himself in this offense due to being out for an extended stretch of six games. In the two games he’s appeared in, Ingram hasn’t done much, 85 yards rushing on 28 attempts,  and 30 yards receiving. It should be noted that he has found the end zone twice however. The fifth ranked rushing defense in the Vikings will be a difficult unit to crack. They have only given up an average of 89.7 rushing yards this season. This spot just isn’t one that suggests a positive return. Let’s wait for a better home matchup against a weaker team.
