Swing for the Fences: DFS HR Predictions for FanDuel and DraftKings (4/25)

I got a huge two-homer day from Bryce Harper last Wednesday to allow my recommendations to have a solid overall day. With a fresh start this week, here are HR predictions for Tuesday night’s big 14-game slate that includes a game at Coors Field and Clayton Kershaw on the mound. I’m mostly fading the Coors Field game due to the chance of rain, winds blowing in and a pitcher-friendly umpire.

Prices included for FanDuel and DraftKings to help find where the best value may be and positions are based on FanDuel.

So with that here is who will be swinging for the fences today…

C – Jason Castro (MIN) (FanDuel: $2,500 / DraftKings: $3,200) – Castro has hit both of his homers off righties this season and has a .178 ISO against righties in his career.

1B – Chris Davis (BAL) (FanDuel: $3,300 / DraftKings: $4,700) – Seems like Davis is my first basemen every time I write this article but he mashes righties (.268 career ISO) and plays in a hitter-friendly park. He also has two homers off tonight’s starter Erasmo Ramirez in 19 plate appearances.

2B – Brian Dozier (MIN) (FanDuel: $3,500 / DraftKings: $5,000) – Dozier has collected hits in four straight games including doubles in each of his last two games. Feels like he is on the cusp of a power binge with a 56.3% hard hit rate in his last five games.

SS – Trea Turner (WAS) (FanDuel: $4,500 / DraftKings: $5,100) – Turner has four hits in his last three games since returning from injury and is play in Coors Field against righty German Marquez who allowed two homers in his only Coors Field start last season.

3B – Travis Shaw (MIL) (FanDuel: $3,600 / DraftKings: $3,600) – Despite being overshadowed by Eric Thames, Shaw is also off to another hot start to the season with five homers through his first 19 games.

OF – Giancarlo Stanton (MIA) (FanDuel: $4,300 / DraftKings: $4,600) – Stanton is locked in at the plate right now with nine hits including four homers over his last four games. The only thing that could stop him right now is the weather.

OF – Khris Davis (OAK) (FanDuel: $3,600 / DraftKings: $3,600) – Davis has a career .353 wOBA and .259 ISO against righties and will face Angles righty JC Ramirez who has allowed 1.46 HR/9 in his career.

OF – Yasmany Tomas (ARI) (FanDuel: $3,200 / DraftKings: $4,000) – Tomas has a .259 ISO against lefties in his young career and is 5-for-10 with a homer off lefty Clayton Richard.

Longshot – Tommy Joseph (PHI) (FanDuel: $2,500 / DraftKings: $3,400) – Only one homer on the season for Joseph but he has a .250 ISO against lefties in his career and has homered off Wei-Yin Chen with three hits in six at-bats.

The GoingFor2 Live Podcast

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
