Swing for the Fences: DFS HR Predictions for FanDuel and DraftKings (5/8)

Introduction

Monday’s lineup produced four home runs for the second day in a row. Monday’s lineup included six hitters reaching at least 12 FanDuel points and two of them exceeding 40 FD points including my longshot pick of Adrian Gonzalez. Let’s try to keep the hot streak going for a big 14-game MLB DFS slate on Tuesday night that includes a game at Coors Field and numerous other favorable hitting spots.

Prices included for FanDuel and DraftKings to help find where the best value may be and positions are based on FanDuel.

So with that here is who will be swinging for the fences today…

Lineup

C – Gary Sanchez (NYY) (FanDuel: $4,100 / DraftKings: $4,500) – Sanchez has crushed Drew Pomeranz in his career going 7-for-18 with three homers.

1B – Edwin Encarnacion (CLE) (FanDuel: $3,600 / DraftKings: $4,700) – Another three-homer guy against the opposing SP is Encarnacion who has hit three bombs against lefty Wade Miley in 16 career at-bats.

2B – Ian Kinsler (LAA) (FanDuel: $3,300 / DraftKings: $3,900) – Time for the Coors Field portion of the write-up starting off with Angels leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler who is priced very reasonably considering he is batting leadoff at Coors Field.

SS – Trevor Story (COL) (FanDuel: $3,800 / DraftKings: $4,300) – Story is also very reasonably priced for a guy playing at Coors Field against a lefty Andrew Heaney who has allowed 2.03 HR/9 to righties in his career

3B – Nolan Arenado (COL) (FanDuel: $5,100 / DraftKings: $5,600) – Another Rockies righty to plug in is Arenado despite the big price tag. Arenado has a career .473 wOBA and .355 ISO at home against righties.

OF – Rhys Hoskins (PHI) (FanDuel: $4,000 / DraftKings: $4,900) – With all of the Coors Field attention, Hoskins could go overlooked despite a great matchup against lefty Jason Vargas who has served up five gopher balls in his two starts this season.

OF – Nomar Mazara (TEX) (FanDuel: $3,100 / DraftKings: $3,800) – Mazara is on a tear with five homers in his last seven games and faces Mike Fiers who has allowed two home runs in three of his last four starts.

OF – Michael Conforto (NYM) (FanDuel: $2,900 / DraftKings: $3,500) – Going right back to Conforto at a very reasonable price tag again after going deep last night and facing another righty in hitter-friendly Cincinnati.

Longshot – Aaron Altherr (PHI) (FanDuel: $2,400 / DraftKings: $3,700) – Altherr is facing the aforementioned Vargas and has a career .351 wOBA and .274 ISO at home against southpaws.

Cheap Pitching options
FanDuel – Danny Duffy ($6,800), Marcus Stroman ($6,100)
DraftKings – Sean Newcomb ($8,500), Rich Hill ($7,300), Danny Duffy ($5,700)

The GoingFor2 Live Podcast

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
