Swing for the Fences: DFS HR Predictions for FanDuel and DraftKings (6/15)

Introduction

Another two-homer day from my lineup on Wednesday but not many fantasy points from the guys that didn’t go deep. Friday gives us a full slate of 15 games to choose from on a night where I expect a lot of home runs flying out of the yard with some home run prone hurlers on the mound.

Prices included for FanDuel and DraftKings to help find where the best value may be and positions are based on FanDuel.

So with that here is who will be swinging for the fences today…

Lineup

mlb fanduel and draftkings lineup 6/15

C – Robinson Chirinos (TEX) (FanDuel: $2,600 / DraftKings: $3,000) – I actually prefer the righties for Texas against right-hander Chad Bettis who has reverse splits allowing a .363 wOBA and 1.56 HR/9 to righties this season.

1B – Justin Bour (MIA) (FanDuel: $3,100 / DraftKings: $3,800) – You can probably go with a more expensive option on DK like Edwin Encarnacion or Anthony Rizzo but Bour is no slouch with a park upgrade for hitters in Baltimore and a .250 ISO against righties this season.

2B – Jedd Gyorko (STL) (FanDuel: $2,800 / DraftKings: $3,400) – Using Gyorko on Wednesday didn’t work out but I’ll give him another try on Friday with his .409 average and three homers in 22 career at-bats against Jon Lester.

SS – Trevor Story (COL) (FanDuel: $4,300 / DraftKings: $4,900) – Next up is a pair of Rockies righties including a red-hot Trevor Story who has five multi-hit games over his last six outings including three homers.

3B – Nolan Arenado (COL) (FanDuel: $4,600 / DraftKings: $4,900) – Arenado bring his .502 wOBA and .282 ISO on the road against lefties this season to the warm temps in Texas with a young lefty on the mound.

OF – Bryce Harper (WAS) (FanDuel: $4,400 / DraftKings: $5,200) – Harper has a .315 ISO on the road against righties this season and faces Aaron Sanchez who is generous to lefties allowing a 1.41 HR/9 rate to lefties at home over his career.

OF – Rhys Hoskins (PHI) (FanDuel: $3,900 / DraftKings: $4,300) – Hoskins is coming off a big three-hit game that included a double and a homer and has a .402 wOBA versus lefties this season.

OF – Corey Dickerson (PIT) (FanDuel: $2,800 / DraftKings: $3,900) – Dickerson and the Pirates will face home run prone righty Matt Harvey who has served up five homers over his last three starts.

Longshot – Jake Marisnick (HOU) (FanDuel: $2,200 / DraftKings: $2,700) – Taking a long shot on Marisnick who faces Jakob Junis who has allowed 2.01 HR/9 to righties this season and will see some warm temps with the wind blowing out in KC.

Cheap Pitching options
FanDuel – Reynaldo Lopez ($6,700), Seth Lugo ($6,400)
DraftKings – Seth Lugo ($7,100), Reynaldo Lopez ($5,900)

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
