No. 5: Eli Manning
A lot of people forget that The Giants have missed the playoffs more often than they’ve made the playoffs with Eli under center. He’s also a turnover machine who usually crumbles under any pressure. Blitz him often, and you will beat the Giants. That may be the easiest blueprint to beating an NFL football team in the NFL. He’s a homeless man’s Peyton. Most of this gets overlooked due the great defenses, and skill players that he rode on the way to two Super Bowl Championships. Without David Tyree, Steve smith, and of course those amazing defenses, He wouldn’t have a single ring. You could make the argument that he belongs closer to the bottom of this list.
No. 4: Phil Simms
Yeah, I know. Another Giants QB. I promise you it’s not personal. Phil Sims lead the Giants to a Super Bowl Victory and was named MVP of the game. However after that particular game, there was a huge drop off with his stats, and he ended his career with a career 55 percent completion percentage. To put things in perspective even Mark Sanchez has a higher completion percentage. That is obviously a bad thing. The 1980’s were also another time where the Giants leaned heavily on their defense. The Giants have shown through the years that they will most likely never win a Super Bowl the same way the Saints did with Drew Brees. That’s certainly not a bad thing. Getting a ring is getting a ring in the NFL. It is however far less entertaining to watch.
No. 3: Joe Namath
This one is by far the easiest one to explain. The former New York Jets QB is more well known for his talk than his play. He would be number one on this list If he had not famously said that his Jets would win Super Bowl 3, and then back it up. However after that, he ended his career with a career 50 percent completion percentage. Yikes! It gets worse than that. His career Quarterback rating was only 65. I triple checked, and that is the actual rating. Tim Tebow‘s QB rating was higher. That says well a lot about just how bad his play was.
No. 2: Brett Favre
Here’s my problem with Favre. He threw a lot of interceptions (many in late-game situations), so for some to label him as one of the greatest of all time, that’s hard for me to stomach. Also,( Like Alex Smith, and Donovan McNabb) he was a product of a short passing scheme (West Coast offense), as well as surrounded by an incredibly defense led by perhaps the best defensive player to ever play in NFL, Reggie White. Favre only won one Super Bowl and it came with the Packers having the best defense in the league that year.
No. 1: Tom Brady
Forget the numbers. Forget the Super Bowl wins. Why? Because Brady forgot about integrity. I can’t honestly say he would have a single ring, if he, and old Bill hadn’t cheated so many times. I’m not just talking about in the playoffs. They’ve been caught and fined 3 times in the regular season for taping other teams practices. Which means they’ve illegally learned the plays of 6 teams in big games and small games. You add Deflategate, and you have a team that’s been caught cheating seven times by the NFL. What’s worse is the fact that we don’t know if they have or have not cheated more than that, but it’s more probable that not that they have, and will continue to do so. The day Brady actually gets punished for his actions is the the day that the Patriots may actually consider playing a fair NFL football game.
