Way to Early 2019 Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft
With the 2018 fantasy season in the books, it’s never too early to look into the future. This year’s draft class is jammed packed with depth and talent at the wide receiver position with some other good players mixed in. This class may not have the superstar as we did with Barkley last year but it’s a great year to build a dynasty squad.
Pick 1.01 | N’Keal Harry – WR – Arizona State
N’Keal Harry is an absolute beast of a receiver. At 6’3 215 pounds Harry somehow manages to player bigger than that. Harry is able to win on jump balls, run after the catch and is one of the most physical college receivers in years. Harry has now produced back to back thousand-yard seasons with subpar QB play and possesses everything NFL teams look for in a receiver.
1.02 | D.K. Metcalf – WR – Ole Miss
If you were to create a receiver on Madden it would look like D.K. Metcalf. Metcalf is a physical freak (6’3, 230 pounds) and has the most upside of any receiver in this stacked class. If it wasn’t for a season-ending neck injury Metcalf would be on everyone mind as the top overall pick. If his medicals clear and he has a good combine he could easily take the top spot.
1.03 | Kelvin Harmon – WR – NC State
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, another big, strong athletic receiver in this draft. Harmon is 6’3, smooth and has fantastic hands. Harmon contains all of the skills to be an alpha receiver who makes an immediate impact in the NFL. With as big and talented as these top three receivers are they could all be interchangeable so landing any could be huge for fantasy as well as making trading back from the one spot a great option.
1.04 | Riley Ridley – WR – Georgia
This draft is looking like the polar opposite of last year’s being completely receiver heavy. Riley Ridley does break the mold of the other receivers going before him only being 6’1 but he’s quite possibly the most polished receiver in the draft. Ridley similar to his brother last year (Calvin Ridley) comes from an offense that revolves around the running game and doesn’t have a ton of production. Don’t let this mislead you, Ridley got open and made DBs look foolish with his fantastic routes, blended with speed and ability to make contested catches which could make him an instant impact in the NFL.
1.05 | Rodney Anderson – RB- Oklahoma

The first running back off of the board comes with some serious question marks in the health department over his career (broken leg, a broken vertebra and a knee injury). If he is able to clear the medicals at the combine as expected Anderson is the most talented back in this class. Anderson is big fast, has fantastic vision, is a great receiver out of the backfield and has big play ability. Anderson’s complete skill set is everything you want in a lead back and if he’s healthy he’s going to be a big-time fantasy asset.
1.06 | Noah Fant– TE- Iowa
Noah Fant is a receiver disguised as a tight end. Fant is an absolute freak athlete who has great hands and can run all of the routes you would want a tight end to run. With the way the tight end position has been trending, reaching for a talented tight end is definitely worth it.
1.07 | Hakeem Butler – WR – Iowa State
Coming back to freakily built receivers enter Hakeem Butler, standing at 6’6 he is one of the tallest receivers in the draft. Unlike most of the guys who are this size, Butler was an absolute deep ball machine averaging 22 yards per reception. Butler has the opportunity to be a big-time riser in the draft process. Don’t be surprised come combine time he is in the top three of dynasty drafts.
1.08 | David Montgomery – RB – Iowa State
Many view David Montgomery as the top back in the class. Montgomery is an absolute fantastic runner. While he may not have the breakaway speed that gets him into the elite category like some of last year’s backs he possesses a fairly complete skill set. Montgomery has top-notch vision, balance, shiftiness and the ability to finish runs that will get him a starting job in the NFL. The biggest question mark that arises is how efficient he can be as a pass catcher. If he is able to be a threat in the passing game this will have been far too low to have drafted him.
1.09 | Marquis “Hollywood” Brown –WR – Oklahoma
Hollywood breaks the mold of every other receiver taken so far in the draft coming in at 5’10, 168 pounds. What makes him exciting is absolutely game-breaking speed. Brown is the fastest most explosive player in this draft and will have the potential to be in the top tier of those categories in the entire league. Coming out of the DeSean Jackson mold, Brown can score on any play and is more than just fast. He’s a crisp route runner with the ability to run after the catch. Brown may be one of the bigger risks taken in the first round of dynasty drafts but the reward could be worth it.
1.10 | Damien Harris– RB – Alabama
Every year Alabama running backs go pro and every year people have tons of questions due to split backfields and limited tape. This year was no different with Harris being in a three-back timeshare. Don’t let that deter you Harris is a slashing running back with big play ability and the size to hold up on an every-down basis. What makes Harris stand out is his receiving ability, in today’s NFL running backs who can catch the ball and stay out on all three downs is what wins games in real life and fantasy. Harris has that ability and more
1.11 | Deebo Samuel– WR – South Carolina
Deebo Samuel looks like a running back playing the wide receiver position and when he has the ball in his hands he plays like it. Deebo plays much bigger than he is (5’10) fighting for balls and not being afraid to catch the ball over the middle. After a slow start in production to start the year he went on a hot streak of three straight hundred-yard games topping it off catching ten balls against Clemson for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Deebo can play inside and outside as well as be used as a return man, his versatile skill set will get him on the field immediately to play and has the upside to be a future producer.
1.12 | A.J. Brown – WR – Ole Miss
Along with fellow standout receiver DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown has the potential to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft. Brown is a 230-pound slot receiver who is able to play thru contact across the middle of the field and run thru defenders with the ball in his hand. Brown needs some work to refine his game being that he wasn’t really asked to run a ton of routes at Ole Miss. What he did do well to negate that was find holes in defensive zones to get open and make plays for his quarterback. This combined with his athleticism and physicality could make him a truly dynamic slot receiver different from what we are used to seeing.
