10 Things to Know for Week 11 #FantasyFootball

The Rams and Chiefs have the highest over/under of the year at 63 points.

Patrick Mahomes

This might be the game of the year. Arguably the two best offenses in the league face off Monday night and I just hope no one cracks under the pressure. Sammy Watkins is expected to return this week for his revenge game of his old team. The Rams will have to adjust without one of their top wide receivers in Cooper Kupp. The game has been moved to Los Angeles due to poor field conditions in Mexico City which mean less travel time for the Rams and hopefully even more points scored.

Lamar Jackson could get his first start in Week 11.

Lamar Jackson

Joe Flacco reportedly has a bad hip that has had him on crutches to start the week. Head Coach John Harbaugh said Flacco doesn’t need to practice to play, but it is hard to imagine he could do just that. Jackson would hopefully be the starter if the Ravens want to develop their young QB. The Ravens have offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg who has coached dual-threat QBs like Michael Vick. Jackson could be a great play against the Bengals in Week 11. The Ravens also have an amazing playoff schedule with the Raiders, Chiefs, Falcons, and Buccaneers all left on the season.

The Titans are coming on strong averaging 27 points the past three weeks.

The Titans used to be a team to play defenses against, but now Marcus Mariota looks to be heating up. Maybe it just took time for things to click in Matt LeFleur’s offense. Week 11 draws a matchup with the Colts who also have been on a hot streak. The Colts have averaged 33 points over the past six weeks, but the important thing is the Colts have also given up over 20 points in every game except two this year. This game is going to be higher scoring than it may seem on the surface. The Titans are vulnerable through the air and the Colts defense just hasn’t been good. Start Mariota, Luck, Lewis, Hilton, Doyle, Ebron, and Davis.

David Johnson is being utilized to his full potential again.

David Johnson

Ex-Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy did not use Johnson the way he should be. Since Byron Leftwich took over as the Cardinals offensive coordinator Johnson has averaged 6.5 targets and 63 receiving yards. Leftwich knows Johnson is his best weapon on the team. Instead of an early round one running back fantasy bust, Johnson is developing into reliable RB1 late in the season and hopefully, his fantasy owners are still alive in the playoff hunt to utilize him.

The only player with a higher target share than Corey Davis this year is DeAndre Hopkins.

Corey Davis

Marcus Mariota targets Davis on 31% of his passes. Earlier in the year that wasn’t translating into much, but last week we saw why he has been a buy-low candidate all season. Volume is king in fantasy football and he has had opportunity to explode many weeks this season. The ball may finally be falling his way and part of it could be Mariota’s improved play. Davis has always had the talent and you can’t not put up decent numbers in an offense that is clicking and that kind of target share.

The Eagles are picking guys up off the street to play in their secondary.

The Eagles defense has struggled mightily against the pass this season. In Week 11 they get the red-hot Drew Brees and the Saints. The Eagles have lost safety Rodney McLeod and cornerback Ronald Darby to season-ending injuries. They also have corners Jalen Mills and Sidney Jones missing time to injuries. They are down to their third and fourth string cornerbacks and safety. Drew Brees should have no problem moving the ball through the air against this team. Even Tre’quan Smith has some starting appeal despite putting up zero points this past week.

Josh Adams may finally get his shot to be the Eagles primary running back.

Adams has seen his percentage of carries rise over the past three weeks. He reached 44% this past week against the Cowboys and Head Coach Doug Pederson has mentioned that he has earned more playing time. We usually don’t see starting running backs emerge this late in the season unless an injury occurs so Adams is worth owning going into Week 11. If the Eagles can round into form offensively over the final stretch of the season they can produce a fantasy viable running back.

Leonard Fournette handled 80% of the carries in Week 10 along with five targets.

Any worries about Fournette’s hamstring were snuffed following his Week 10 usage. The Jaguars committed to him being there lead back and the focal point of their offense. Carlos Hyde and TJ Yeldon were both left on the sideline for much of the game. Even in a high scoring matchup, the Jaguars stuck with Fournette over Yeldon’s passing catching skills. In Week 11 the Steelers will put up points on the Jaguars, but that shouldn’t give you any fear of starting Fournette. He could be a league winner for many many teams this year.

Keenan Allen is heating up just like last year.

In 2017, we saw Allen get off to a slow start and then explode over the back half of the season. In 2018, we again saw Allen start slow, but is he going to win leagues just like last year? We saw Allen unhappy with his red zone usage two weeks ago. The past two weeks he has 10 targets leading to six receptions for 124 yards and nine targets leading to six receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. That was against the Seahawks and Raiders who didn’t force the Chargers to try and run up the score. After the Cardinals and Broncos, the Chargers get the Steelers, Chiefs, Bengals, and Ravens who can all score. Allen could be a playoff favorite again in 2018.

Congratulations to all James Conner owners on the top 5 RB for the rest of the season.

Le’Veon Bell officially did not show up to the Steelers facility this week which means the saga is over. Conner will be the primary lead back for the Steelers throughout the fantasy season and likely moving forward into 2019. It is quite amazing how many fantasy seasons were likely affected by this between people taking Bell first overall and those picking up Conner on the waiver wire. Hopefully, you were the latter. I would not be surprised if Conner is the most owned player on championship teams considering he could be paired with guys like Melvin Gordon, Julio Jones, and Adam Thielen all on one team. This just goes to show how little we ultimately know about certain situations and how you need to be fluid in your draft and throughout the season on all the latest news.
