2017 Fantasy Football: Week 12 Sit/Start

Week 12 Sit/Start

With Thanksgiving offering us three games some of you may find yourselves in a big hole early. Good news is if you did not start dud yourself you have plenty of time to cut into the deficit you are facing. But the pressure is on to start the right players if you are in that big hole. If you have questions about how to start to close the gap, be sure to check out my sit and starts to help make those crucial decisions before game time. Remember if you have any other sit start questions you can hit me up in my Facebook group Dynasty League Problems or on twitter @MikeKelleyDLP Good luck this week.

Start and Sit of the week

The LootCrate START of the Week:

QB Andy Dalton (CIN)

Outside of a couple of weeks Dalton has had a pretty solid season. Most weeks he has had QB2 value and one week he tore it up. That was week four against the Browns, and this week if faces, you guessed, the Browns. The Browns are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to stopping quarterbacks which means Dalton should have no problem putting up QB1 numbers. Last time Dalton faced the Browns he lit it up posting 286 passing yards and four touchdowns while completing 83 percent of his passes. Repeating the four touchdowns might be hard but 280 plus yards and at least two touchdowns should be pretty easy for him this week.

The LootCrate SIT of the Week:

RB Doug Martin (TB)
Doug Martin Running Back Bucs
Over the last five weeks Martin has averaged 51 total yards of offense with one reception per game and and zero touchdowns in that span. Bottom line, he is useless. Making things worse The Bucs are playing poorly with no reason to think things will get turned around this year. As a result I would be staying away from Martin not only this week but all the remaining weeks as well. This week the Bucs travel to Atlanta to face off against a team that is playing better lately and has been playing solid defense all year. Anything above 60 yards I would consider a lucky day from him.

Quarterback

START Jacoby Brissett (IND)

Jacoby Brissett Colts QuarterbackOver Brissett’s last three starts he has been pretty good and his last three opponents have not been cupcakes either. He is averaging 20 completions for 255 yards and two touchdowns against the likes of CIN, HOU, and PIT. The other thing I have noticed in the last three weeks were is rushing totals, they were his lowest rushing totals on the year. To me this means he is becoming comfortable in the offense. With the Titans in the lower half of the league in giving up points to quarterbacks, Brissett should have plenty of changes to put up some points this week. Look for him to throw for around 260 yards and a couple of touchdowns. If you are lucky he might even run one in as well.

Other STARTS:

SIT Drew Brees (NO)

I took a lot of heat this past off season for predicting Brees would throw for less than 4,600 yards. Well 10 games into the season he is on pace for less than 4,500. He is also on pace for only 24 touchdowns which would be he lowest total since 2005. When the Saints brought in AP, drafted Kamara and send Cooks packing the writing was on the wall for me. The Saints were shifting to a run heavy team. Brees is still producing well, just not as well as we are used too. A showdown in L.A. with the Rams could be trouble for the Saints. He has already had two games this year with no touchdowns and this could be his third. I think at best if Brees throws for 260 yards and one touchdown you should consider yourself lucky.

Other SITS:

Running Backs

START Tevin Coleman (ATL)

Tevin Coleman Falcons Running BackColeman is in line to have the lead role of a second consecutive league. He first start did not go very well, and if not for a short touchdown he would have been pretty bad last week. That said it was against Seattle and this week he gets a much soft run defense in the Bucs. Another 20 plus touches for close 100 yards, a handful of receptions and a good shot at a touchdown should make for a nice week for Coleman. Start him freely as the Falcons are looking to fight their way back into the playoffs.

Other STARTS:

  • JD McKissic (SEA)
  • Decontae Booker (DEN)

SIT Jamaal Williams (GB)

Williams should get plenty of carries this week, but what he won’t get is plenty of running room. With Aaron Jones out and Ty Montgomery likely to miss another week Williams is in line for 15 or more touches this week. But a tough match up against a stingy Steelers defense will make it hard to count on Williams this week. Don’t forget his quarterback is also struggling, which will allow the Steelers to stack the box and force the Packers to go to the air. Either way you slice it, things don’t look good for Williams. I just don’t see him doing well enough to break the 50 yards mark on the ground.

Other SITS:

Wide Receiver

START Jarvis Landry (MIA)

Jarvis Landry Dolphins Wide ReceiverAnother player’s prediction that drew a lot of negative comments is when I said Landry would go over 90 receptions and get 8 touchdowns this year. 10 games in and Landry has 67 receptions and six touchdowns, things are looking good for me there. This week Landry takes his three game touchdown streak to New England. Where the Patriots, who are getting better, are still giving up a ton of points to wide receivers. Regardless of the quarterback this year Landry has been able to produce. Never a great week, but with every week but one in double digits its hard to complain about his production. Another week with at least six receptions for 60 yards and a good shot at a touchdown should keep Landy’s value up.

Other STARTS:

SIT T.Y. Hilton (IND)

I feel like the Colt’s receivers are turning into the Patriots running backs. You just never know who is getting the ball from week to week. I guess that is something Brissett brought with him from the Patriots. The result is Hilton only has 3 games where he has scored double digits yet has managed to stay in the top 25 among wide receivers. In those three good games Hilton’s slash is 19/505/3 and in the other seven games he is 17/220/0. With such disparity between them it is hard to roll Hilton out there. It sucks if he goes off but 70 percent of the time this year he has not even broken nine ppr points this season. Bottom line if I can sit him I do, if I am desperate I think you still have to play him and hope it is one of his big weeks.

Other SITS:

Tight End

START Jimmy Graham (SEA)

In his last eight games Graham has been in double digits. He is being heavily used in the offense and has even scored seven touchdowns in those eight games. His worst game of the game of the year came at the hands of the 49ers, who he faces this week, but I imagine it will be very different this time. While the 49ers are doing a good job at stopping tight ends this year I think Graham is too involved to be slowed down by them. Look for Graham to haul in five or six receptions for 70 yards with a good shot at a touchdown.

Other STARTS:

SIT Cameron Brate (TB)

Without Jameis Winston, Brate has been nearly non existent. In almost three full games without Winston, Brate has three receptions for 31 yards and zero touchdowns. In the seven games with Winston he had 31 receptions for 405 yards and four touchdowns. That is a huge drop off in production. So with news that Winston is out yet again I see no reason the use Brate this week. At best we are looking at three receptions for less than 25 yards with no touchdowns. until Winston is back I would keep Brate on my bench.
