Drew Brees – The Saints have won five straight games, and have been able to run the ball frequently to close out games. During this stretch where Brees “struggled,” he’s still thrown for 250 yards or three touchdowns in four of the five games. Brees has a 4.4% touchdown rate this season, more than a full percentage point lower than his career average with the Saints, and his lowest rate since 2007. The Saints have a solid schedule to finish the year, especially in the fantasy playoffs where they’ll face the 25th, 23rd, and 25th ranked pass defense, all in the comfort of a dome. While he’s not putting up elite QB1 numbers right now, if the touchdowns return, he’ll be a solid QB1 for the rest of the year.

Brandin Cooks/Danny Amendola – Chris Hogan injured his shoulder last week and is going to be out “several weeks.” While we don’t know exactly what that means, but there was question as to whether he would have surgery. The Patriots have a bye in week 9, so it’s the perfect time to send sneaky trade offers to the owners of Cooks and Amendola. At worst, you get Cooks and Amendola for their current value. At best, they’ll see increased value for a few weeks if and when Hogan misses time.

Stefon Diggs – Diggs was injured in week five, and has fallen to WR19 on the season. The Vikings have bye week this week, allowing Diggs to return to full health. After four weeks of struggles for fantasy owners, some owners are sure to forget how good Diggs was to start the year. Send an offer to a frustrated Diggs owner and see what it takes to add the Vikings top receiver to your team.

DeSean Jackson – Jackson averages 7.43 targets per game this season, and is third in the NFL in air yards. With an aDOT of 18.5, he’s seeing targets that usually turn into big fantasy games. For some reason, those games haven’t showed up yet this season as Jackson currently ranks as WR38 in PPR leagues. I believe some of the splash plays will return in the near future and the weekly targets create a comfortable floor if he goes a week without a big play. I’m buying Jackson as a WR2/3.

Greg Olsen – Olsen has been forgotten by many owners at this point in the year. He’s been injured for almost the entire season, and isn’t eligible to return until week 12, however, if you’re team is contending and you could use a boost at tight end, see if you can acquire Olsen before his price rises. I was already going to write up Olsen, and then Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Bills, creating a stronger case for buying Olsen as more targets and red zone work were vacated with the trade.

Darren McFadden/Alfred Morris – With the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott, McFadden and Morris have become relevant. The issue is, we don’t know which one will be the lead back, if there even is a lead back. It’s reasonable to believe the Cowboys will split carries between Morris, McFadden, and even Rod Smith. I believe McFadden has a slightly better chance of being an RB2 than the others due to his receiving abilities, but he’s been inactive throughout the year while Morris been the Elliott backup. I don’t feel comfortable rolling out any of these running backs as more than flex options or bye week fill-ins while Elliott is out, and they’ll be lost at a vital part of the fantasy playoffs when Elliott returns. I’ll sell these backs for basically any WR2 or RB2, and would consider selling for quite a few RB3/WR3/Flex options as well. I’d only hold onto them if I’m an Elliott owner.

JuJu Smith-Schuster – There’s no doubt that Smith-Schuster is one of the hottest names in fantasy right now, especially coming off of a 7-193-1 stat line last week. Not only did he explode after Martavis Bryant was benched, all of this happened on Sunday Night Football when everyone was watching, furthering the hype. I believe in Smith-Schuster in dynasty, as an NFL talent, and even as a WR2/3 for the rest of the year, but you should absolutely explore trade options considering the current hype.
