2017 NFL DraftKings GPP Plays for Week 7

Some of the biggest names in football are lost for the season due to injury. The latest player to possibly be lost for the season is Aaron Rodgers. Losing Rodgers is a huge blow for the Packers, and his fantasy owners.

Top athletes falling to season-ending injuries has become a reoccurring theme from week-to-week. It’s made it difficult in the fantasy world too. There’s a ton of talent in the NFL, and always a player waiting for their opportunity, but trying to predict which ones will have a breakout performance is challenging to say the least. We here at GoingFor2, however, try our best to give you updates on who we think has the best chance. Check out below for our top GPP plays this week on DraftKings.

The Gamefly DraftKings GPP Plays forĀ Week 7

Quarterbacks

Alex Smith (KC) @ OAK $6,400

Smith and the Chiefs offense were held in check on Sunday by the Steelers, but I see them bouncing back on a short week. Smith has been efficient all season as a potential MVP candidate although it hasn’t shown every week in his stats. I like his odds this week, however, against the struggling Raiders, and a defense that has underperformed to this point.

Russell Wilson (SEA) @ NYG $6,400

Russell Wilson has been a huge boom-or-bust quarterback so far this season. That will likely carry on throughout the season based on matchups. I have a strong sense though that this will be one of Wilson’s boom weeks as he takes on a Giants defense that has struggled against quarterbacks in a big game for both teams.

Other Notables: Dak Prescott (DAL) @ SF $7,300, Carson Wentz (PHI) vs. WAS $6,700

Running Backs

Adrian Peterson (ARI) @ LAR $5,800

Peterson was phenomenal in his debut with the Cardinals just days after Arizona traded for him. The performance shocked just about everyone except for Peterson himself. The Bucs were probably not expecting to see such a high dose of Peterson. The Rams will likely be more prepared, but the reality is that they are very weak against the run. A case of deja vu could be in order for Peterson, and boom him back to one of the elites.

Ty Montgomery (GB) vs. NO $5,500

Montgomery only saw the field for 20 snaps last week against the Vikings as he returned from a rib injury that kept him out the week prior. Despite just 20 snaps, Montgomery finished the game with 11 touches. He should see his snap count increase this week, and could be leaned on heavily with Brett Hundley now under center. Aaron Jones will likely continue splitting time with Montgomery, but it seems pretty clear that Montgomery will receive the majority of touches.

Other Notables: Carlos Hyde (SF) vs. DAL $5,900, Tevin Coleman (ATL) @ NE $4,800

Wide Receivers

Jarvis Landry (MIA) vs. NYJ $6,800

Landry continues to show why he is Miami’s #1 receiver, averaging over 11 targets per game through five games. He’s scored a touchdown in back-to-back games now, and will get an even bigger boost if teammate DeVante Parker is forced to miss another week.

Devin Funchess (CAR) @ CHI $6,000

Funchess was held in check last week in what was supposed to be a favorable matchup against the Eagles. He finished with just three receptions for 36 yards, but was targeted nine times, which is what he has averaged since the injury to TE Greg Olsen. Look for Funchess to bounce back against an improved, but still vulnerable Bears defense.

Davante Adams (GB) vs. NO $5,800

With the potentially season-ending injury to Aaron Rodgers, most people are fading the Packers altogether, but I’m not there yet. Yes, it’s a huge blow to this offense, but Adams actually benefited some with Rodgers’ departure last week. Hundley targeted Adams 10 times last week, and the two connected on the Packers only touchdown of the day. It’s possible that Hundley and Adams found some kind of chemistry during training camp, and it could now carry over to game days.

Other Notables: Brandin Cooks (NE) vs. ATL $7,400, Doug Baldwin (SEA) @ NYG $6,600

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz (PHI) vs. WAS $6,900

Despite not yet surpassing 100 yards in any game, Zach Ertz has been the most consistent tight end in the league this year. He’s in great position to pass the 100-yard mark on Monday night against the Redskins, who have struggled against tight ends. His price point is the highest it’s been to this point, but top stars like Ertz generally come to play in primetime spots.

Other Notables: Jimmy Graham (SEA) @ NYG $4,900, Cameron Brate (TB) @ BUF $4,700

Defense

Jacksonville @ IND $3,700

Many have taken notice of Jacksonville’s defense as they far from the pushover they once were just a couple of seasons ago. Leading the league in sacks, some have even started calling the team ‘Sacksonville.’ What’s ironic is how much better they play on the road compared to at home. On the road, the Jaguars have accumulated 17 sacks, 14 turnovers, and scored all four of their defensive touchdowns.

At home, they have just 6 sacks, 5 turnovers, and no scores. In fact, their best game at home was the game in London against Baltimore. Whatever it is, this defense gets fired up on the road, and are likely to rattle Jacoby Brissett and the Colts on Sunday.

Other Notables: Pittsburgh vs. CIN $2,500
