Sell High

Quarterback

Drew Brees – This is more of a sell high due to his name than his recent performances. Since Mark Ingram returned, Brees has finishes of QB2, QB17 and QB30. This is after a disappointing 2017 season where Brees recorded only three games of 20+ points in a season where the Saints featured Ingram and Alvin Kamara heavily. Brees faces the Rams this week in a game featuring a 60 point over/under, so maybe the selling window is better left for next week, but I’m selling Brees for almost any other QB1.

Running Back

Adrian Peterson – There are enough fantasy owners who want to believe in 33-year-old Adrian Peterson, but I’m not one of them. He finished week eight with 26.6 PPR points, but needed a few big breaks to go his way. He caught a touchdown pass, his first receiving touchdown since week one of the 2013 season. He finished with 149 rushing yards on 26 attempts, but broke a 64 yard touchdown run at the end of the game. This changed his yards per carry from 3.4 to 5.7. While I’m against discounting big plays in general, this shows you how close Peterson was to a “meh” 14.2 point fantasy outing where nobody would be talking about him. Washington plays the Falcons next week, and should feature Chris Thompson heavily. I’m selling Peterson now for any pass-catching RB2 in PPR leagues. Peterson is more of a hold in standard leagues, but I’d still judge his value in my leagues and see if there is a selling opportunity.

I’m still selling: Tarik Cohen – Cohen scored 18 PPR points on Sunday…on six touches. He’s good, but this efficiency is unsustainable.

Wide Receiver

Marvin Jones Jr. – Jones Jr. finished as the WR1 (tied with Sammy Watkins) as he scored 30.7 PPR points. Going into the week, we knew the Seahawks struggled to defend outside receivers, but we also assumed Kenny Golladay and Jones Jr. would both see targets. Instead Golladay saw one target and finished with 12 yards while Jones Jr. saw ten targets and dominated week eight. I expect a fairly even split going forward, placing Jones Jr. in the “sell high” category. I consider both Golladay and Jones Jr. solid WR2 plays each week.

**After the Lions traded Golden Tate to the Eagles, Jones may not be as strong as a sell high, but see what you can get. I prefer Golladay to Jones, but both are in the same tier.

Tight End

Eric Ebron – He salvaged the day with a touchdown, keeping the selling window open for the time being. At the same time, Jack Doyle returned to play 73 percent of the snaps, catching six passes for 70 yards and a score on seven targets. Ebron saw just 22 percent of the snaps and three targets. With the state of tight end this season, Ebron is a TE2 with upside each week, but his floor is significantly lower after Doyle’s return.

Quarterback

Baker Mayfield and the entire Browns offense – Not only have the Browns rid themselves of Hue Jackson, they see an easy schedule over the next few weeks. Over the next three weeks, they’ll face the following defensive ranks: 26, 31, and 25 (Football Outsiders DVOA). This offense is primed for a breakout over the next month, and may still be easy to buy considering most owners are still used to the Hue Jackson Browns.

Mayfield is still best left for 2QB leagues, but is a high end QB2 going forward and is an intriguing dynasty buy.

Nick Chubb is a solid RB2 in standard leagues, and is an RB2/Flex in PPR leagues, but with bye weeks hitting hard, we’ll likely see Chubb ranked as a top 15 RB over the next month.

Jarvis Landry has 95 targets this season, ranking behind only Adam Thielen’s 96. He’s turned that into 115.8 PPR points while Thielen has 202 PPR points.

David Njoku destroyed fantasy lineups with a zero in week eight, but did see an end zone target that didn’t show up on the box score due to a penalty. I have Njoku as a top eight tight end going forward.

Also Buy: Jameis Winston (in 2QB and Dynasty leagues) – Keep in mind the Buccaneers were quick to bench Fitzpatrick after he averaged 32.5 fantasy points per game over the first three weeks. It would not surprise me to see Winston return this year, and the Buccaneers have one of the most fantasy friendly passing attacks in the league.

Wide Receiver

Kenny Golladay – I initially had Keke Coutee written up in this section, but since the Texans acquired Demaryius Thomas, I’ll put Golladay in this spot. After starting strong, Golladay has recorded just 3.95 PPR points per game over the past two weeks, dropping him to WR29 on the season. The departure of Golden Tate, opens up about 10 targets per game to split between the Lions pass catchers. It’s also possible Golladay sees more snaps in the slot, giving him some easier receptions.

Tight End

Jack Doyle – (See Eric Ebron)
