Quarterback
The Fanatics Starts of the Week
Matt Stafford (DET) @ MIA
Since week one Matthew Stafford has thrown for 1,100 yards, nine touchdowns, and only one interception. His completion percentage over that time is 68 percent. Plenty of yards, high completion percentage, solid touchdowns, and virtually no turnovers. Those are all things I look for in a starting quarterback. The Dolphins have been okay against the pass and have actually limited passing touchdowns and fantasy quarterback points, but they still have given up 290 yards per game. I think Stafford can push for 300 yards and two or more touchdowns this week easily.
Other Starts
- Baker Mayfield (CLE) vs TB

Deshaun Watson (HOU) @ JAX
Before the season started I wrote an article declaring the price on Watson was too damn high. I argued that his touchdowns would regress and his interceptions would hurt him. Through six weeks Watson has nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. After his first six full games last year he had 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Touchdowns were cut in half and interceptions have remained the same. He has thrown for more yards than I was expecting though, I will give him that. Now consider this week Watson is playing the Jaguars who are first in yards allowed, touchdowns allowed, and fantasy quarterback points given up and you have no good reason to start Watson this week. I am not expecting a dud from Watson, but I am certainly not expecting QB1 numbers from him this week.
Other Sits
- C.J. Bethard (SF) vs LAR
Running Back

Tarik Cohen (CHI) vs NE
Cohen was off to a poor start in the first three weeks of the season. He had 86 rushing yards, seven receptions for 48 yards and zero touchdowns. Then in week four, he breaks out with 53 rushing yards and seven receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown. Then the Bears had their bye week and coming off the bye I wanted to see if Cohen could pick up where he left off. He did. 31 rushing yards and a touchdown with another seven receptions for 90 yards. I am not convinced that he is back after that slow start. This week the Bears will face off against the Patriots who have surrendered their share of points to running backs so far this year. Look for Cohen to have around 40 yards on the ground and another five-plus reception day going over fifty yards, with a strong possibility to find the end zone again this week.
Other Starts
- Royce Freeman (DEN) @ ARI
- Kerryon Johnson (DET) @ MIA
The Fanatics Sits of the Week
Alex Collins (BAL) vs NO
Collins has been an okay standard league running back. Five touchdowns in six weeks have really helped his numbers. This week though the Ravens are hosting the high powered Saints. Despite the Ravens stout defense, I am still expecting the Saints to score their share of points. As a result, this will limit Collins ability to contribute this week. Collins is not very good in the passing game, so in a week where the Ravens might be looking to pass early and often it leaves Collins on the bench to watch Buck Allen snake all of his points away. If the Ravens fall behind early, which is very possible it could take Collins completely out of the game and because of that risk I am sitting Collins this week.
Other Sits
- Dion Lewis (TEN) @ LAC
- Corey Clement (PHI) vs CAR
Wide Receiver
The Fanatics Starts of the Week
Kelvin Benjamin (BUF) @ IND
I know a lot of people are going to think I am crazy for this one, but hear me out. Derek Anderson has been a Buffalo Bill for all of nine days and is already starting at quarterback. Now let’s be fair to Anderson here, how well can he possibly know the Bills playbook? I am sure being the professional that he is, he knows enough to warrant starting over the interception machine known as Nathan Peterman. So while Anderson might not have a ton a familiarity with the playbook he does have some comfort with one of their receivers. Longtime teammate Benjamin. In the three and a half years that the two were teammates, Anderson and Benjamin have only started three games together. In those three games, Benjamin caught 19 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown. Not bad for three games. So since Anderson is starting this week I am thinking he just might lean on a familiar face this week in Benjamin who could be in line for the best week this year. Six receptions for over 80 yards and a touchdown could be had this week by Benjamin.
Other Starts
- Tyler Boyd (CIN) @ KC
- Michael Crabtree (BAL) vs NO
The Fanatics Sits of the Week
Sammy Watkins (KC) vs CIN
5.1, 0, and 3.7 are the point totals in three of Watkins games this year. To be fair the zero game he was injured just before halftime and did not return. I am counting it because after almost half the game he had zero points. The other three weeks Watkins has 19.1, 17.5, and 13.8. Talk about extremes. He either helps you win or is the reason you lose and nothing in between. Because of that, I am avoiding him this week. Even though the Bengals have been average at best against the pass, I am not risking another stinker from Watkins. This sit is more based on start someone more consistent if you can than a concern for his matchup. Watkins has been the true definition of boom or bust this year.
Other Sits
- Josh Gordon (NE) @ CHI
- Will Fuller (HOU) @ JAX
Tight End
The Fanatics Starts of the Week
David Njoku (CLE) @ TB
In three and a half games with Baker Mayfield Njoku has been targeted 32 times compared to 14 in two and a half games with Tyrod Taylor. Njoku has turned those 32 targets into 20 receptions for 211 yards and one touchdown. Anyone that pushes 10 targets a game is a guy I like. Do you know what makes those 10 targets even better? Playing the Buccaneers who are just about the worst team in the NFL against the pass. Njoku could easily see another 10 plus targets and turn those into seven receptions for 80 yards and a solid chance at finding the end zone.
Other Starts
- Ricky Seals-Jones (ARI) vs DEN
The Fanatics Sits of the Week
Austin Hooper (ATL) vs NYG
It has been fun Hooper, but I think the fun is about to come to an end. Well for this week at least. After back to back seven reception and 70 plus yard games, I am expecting Hooper to be a little more grounded this week. The Giants have been one of the better teams in the league at stopping tight ends so I am not expecting another TE1 performance. I think we are looking at one of his three receptions for 20 yards week, which is so disheartening after his last two weeks.
Other Sits
- George Kittle (SF) vs LAR
Defense
The Fanatics Starts of the Week
Indianapolis Colts vs BUF
I would feel better if the Colts were facing Peterman this week, but regardless a quarterback with less than 10 days of practice with a team is almost as good as a situation for the Colts defense this week.
Other Starts
- Detroit Lions @ MIA

Baltimore Ravens vs NO
This just in, the quarterback in New Orleans seems to be pretty good. Apparently, he has thrown the ball a lot. The Ravens defense is good, but not so good that Drew Brees can’t handle them.
Other Sits
- Cincinnati Bengals @ KC
