NFL Player Comparision | Alshon Jeffery

Bottom Line

The first thing I noticed when watching Gandy-Golden was his jump ball ability. He was able to stretch the field at Liberty, despite not having blazing speed, because of his ability to go up and get the ball. Rarely was he ever “behind the defense” on deep throws. Most times his quarterback would see him one-on-one with a smaller corner and would throw a 40-yard jump ball, which AGG came down with more often than not.

Something I like to see when scouting smaller school guys is, “do they dominate when they are supposed to.” Meaning, if they are truly an NFL-caliber talent are they head and shoulders better than their competition at the college level? The answer to that question when it comes to AGG is a resounding yes, both literally and figurately at 6-foot-4.

His size, ball skills and jump ball ability reminds me a lot of Alshon Jeffery early in his career at Chicago. Jay Cutler would see Jeffery one-on-one –and sometimes even doubled-teamed — and he would just launch a 55-yard jump ball and trust Jeffery to come down with it. That’s exactly what AGG did at Liberty.
