2020 Rookie/Devy Mock (Part 2)

For those of you who may have missed part 1, here is a link: https://goingfor2.com/2020-rookie-devy-mock-part-1/

The Setup

In this mock draft, 12 members of the dynasty community teamed up to compare this year’s draft class with the classes that are coming in the following seasons. For this process, the rules that were assumed are Superflex, PPR, with a .5 TE premium. The draft was 6 rounds. Part 1 of this article will be rounds 1-3, with rounds 4-6 to come. While this project doesn’t feature hard-hitting analysis, it is fun to see where the likes of Ja’Marr Chase and Trevor Lawrence went when compared to Joe Burrow and CeeDee Lamb.

Round 4

Round 4
1 J-Sut @DffJsut Max Borghi, RB, Washington State
2 Daniel Turner @The_DTurner86 KJ Hamler, WR, Penn State
3 Troy Breisch @TroyBreisch Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
4 Michael Fonte @m_fonte85 AJ Dillon, RB, Boston College
5 Ryan Cearfoss @fntsyfbconnect Jalen Waddle,WR, Alabama
6 Ray Ray Marz @RayRayMarz Bryan Edwards, WR, South Carolina
7 JT Maynard @FatAdamSchefter Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis
8 Tyler Makings @TPM_Sports Spencer Rattler, QB, Oklahoma
9 Tommy Mo @2on1FFB Michael Pittman Jr., WR, USC
10 Caleb Pierson @PiersonFF Garrett Wilson, WR, OSU
11 Colin Decker @cdecker613 Pat Freiermuth, TE PSU
12 Daily Fantasy Hitman @DailyHitman Cole Kmet, TE, ND

Alright, let’s get right to the point. @fntsyfbconnect walked away with a potential steal in Alabama receiver, Jalen Waddle. While Waddle’s numbers may not be as good as some of his fellow classmates his potential may be higher. Alabama is losing not 1, but 2 first-round receivers in Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs. That’s 1,700 yards and 17 TD that is leaving the Alabama offense. My least favorite pick from round 4 came from @The_DTurner86 with his pick of KJ Hamler. I don’t know if I will draft Hamler at 4.02 of regular rookie drafts, let alone this draft. Okay, that may be a stretch, but with an ADP of late-round 2 to early-round 3 I will not be drafting him. Terry, Wallace, and Duvernay were all 3 better picks in rounds 5 and 6.

Round 5

Round 5
1 Daily Fantasy Hitman @DailyHitman Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas
2 Colin Decker @cdecker613 Zach Charbonnet, RB Michigan
3 Caleb Pierson @PiersonFF Jayden Daniels, QB ASU
4 Tommy Mo @2on1FFB Thaddeus Moss, TE, LSU
5 Tyler Makings @TPM_Sports Brevin Jordan, TE, Miami
6 JT Maynard @FatAdamSchefter Jonathan Adams, WR, Ark. St.
7 Ray Ray Marz @RayRayMarz Ke’Shawn Vaughn, RB, Vanderbilt
8 Ryan Cearfoss @fntsyfbconnect Journey Brown, RB, PSU
9 Michael Fonte @m_fonte85 Jacob Eason, QB, Washington
10 Troy Breisch @TroyBreisch Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame
11 Daniel Turner @The_DTurner86 Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
12 J-Sut @DffJsut Tamorrion Terry, WR, Florida State

My favorite pick of round 5 was made by @cdecker613. Zach Charbonnet has the potential to be the top back in the 2022 class and as such will eventually lock himself in as a top 3 rookie pick in his rookie class. My least favorite pick in this round is harder to come by. I think Chase Claypool is the odd man out. @TroyBreisch made this pick at 5.10 and I believe his landing spot will make the difference for Claypool. As a boom or bust prospect, Claypool would thrive in a WR/TE role, but there is no guarantee that this happens.

Round 6

Round 6
1 J-Sut @DffJsut Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State
2 Daniel Turner @The_DTurner86 Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
3 Troy Breisch @TroyBreisch Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri
4 Michael Fonte @m_fonte85 John Emory Jr., RB, LSU
5 Ryan Cearfoss @fntsyfbconnect Pooka Williams, RB, Kansas
6 Ray Ray Marz @RayRayMarz Antonio Gibson, RB/WR, Memphis
7 JT Maynard @FatAdamSchefter Arik Gilbert, TE, LSU
8 Tyler Makings @TPM_Sports David Bell, WR, Purdue
9 Tommy Mo @2on1FFB Bru McCoy, WR, USC
10 Caleb Pierson @PiersonFF Kedon Slovis, QB, USC
11 Colin Decker @cdecker613 Jerrion Ealy, RB Ole Miss
12 Daily Fantasy Hitman @DailyHitman Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Time for me to choose myself as the best pick in a round, David Bell of Purdue in round 6 is a steal. David Bell shined as a true freshman at Purdue last year and is my WR1 of the 2022 class right now. Bell will have a lot of competition this year with a return of a healthy Rondale Moore, but these 2 compliment each other perfectly if the QB can support a high powered offense. My least favorite pick in this round was made by @2on1FFB. Bru McCoy is a decent looking prospect, however he is likely not in the top 10 of the 2022 receiving class as of today.

This concludes this 2020 rookie/devy mock. Thank you all for reading and stay tuned for more content.
