Overall Outlook

Davis had the look of a draft bust, so much so that the Tennessee Titans did not pick up his fifth-year option. He responded by having the best season of his career in 2020, with 65 catches for 984 yard and five touchdowns. A good start was interrupted by a stint on the COVID-19 list. Then from Week 7-15 he was WR10 in full PPR (WR7 in standard scoring), with a game where he was shut out during that stretch (Week 9 against the Chicago Bears). He was also shut out by Packers’ No. 1 corner Jaire Alexander in Week 16, which was poorly timed for fantasy owners who had him in a championship week lineup.

So in what amounted to 12 games, Davis had 65 receptions and close to 1,000 yards. Then he signed with the New York Jets in free agency.

The change in team brings questions, and the Jets having a rookie quarterback in Zach Wilson adds another layer. But Davis has been targeted on 10 of his 13 routes through two preseason games, highlighted by a team-high four catches for 70 yards in the second preseason game against the Packers. He and Wilson have had instant rapport, albeit with rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore sidelined by injury.

Via Fantasy Football Calculator ADP, Davis is coming in at WR50 (pick 11.03) in 12-team full PPR right now (Aug. 22). That is a screaming value in the teeth of draft season, even with the question marks around the Jets’ offense.
