5 Sleepers For Week 3 2019 NFL Fantasy Football
- 5: WR Marquise Brown Baltimore Ravens: Yes, Hollywood Brown is a first-round rookie who has flashed some serious potential in the pre-season and he’s penciled in to start for the Ravens on Sunday. That being said, he wasn’t drafted as high as he should have been simply because he’s a rookie. The kid already has 12 catches for 233 yards with 2 TDs this season. Let’s focus on the kids game for a moment. He’s a rookie and is already by far the best WR The Ravens have. I have him going off this on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs and their below-average secondary for over a 100 yards a 2 deep TD catches.
That will grab everyone’s attention. Hollywood Brown does not play like a rookie. He reminds me of a young Desean Jackson. He’s a burner who consistently finds ways to get open. (I truly wish my Philadelphia Eagles would have drafted this kid in the first round this year.) The deep ball is Hollywoods specialty, and QB Lamar Jackson is going to feed his first-ever deep threat WR all season long. (Yes he still needs to work on his short and intermediate routes to some extent, but with Jackson’s cannon arm throwing to him deep it’s not a pressing concern at the moment. ) Bold Prediction: He becomes a better all-round receiver than his cousin Antonio Brown throughout the course of his career and never causes the same type of drama A.B. does either. Brown is already the best WR that The Ravens have had since Steve Smith Sr, and that only took two NFL football games to accomplish. Marquise Brown’s projected stat line: 72 catches for 1,191 yards, and 10 TDs. He’s gonna have a great career in my opinion.
3: WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Philadelphia Eagles: The Philadelphia Eagles are going to be dominant in the Red-Zone this year. JJ is 6 ft 5 and 200 Lbs. That said, the young rookie second-round pick is not just a red-zone threat. He’s much faster than most realize. He ran a 4.5 40 at the combine, but he has been clocked at 4.3 seconds. He is also a great route runner who will get his yards after the catch. His size-speed combination at worst could make him the next Brandon Marshall (In his prime). This kid has Megatron Potential! That’s right, I said it. Why is he a sleeper in the world of fantasy football? That would be because of The Eagles depth at WR. They have Pro-Bowlers WR Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson ahead of him on the outside, and former first-rounder WR Nelson Agholor starting in the slot. That being said Desean Jackson is out for 2 weeks with a groin injury forcing JJAW into the starting lineup this week on the outside vs the Detroit Lions at home and the week after that. This gives Arcega-Whiteside the opportunity to showcase his talents. Even when DJAX returns I expect JJ to overtake Nelly in the slot just before the trade deadline during the season. I’m putting J.J. Arcega Whiteside down for 7 catches for 120 yards and a TD The projected stat line for Whiteside: 52 catches for 850 yards, and 15 TDs. Yes, 15 TDs. People are about to see that J.J. Is more than just a red zone threat.
2: QB Jacoby Brisset Indianapolis Colts: Colts fans aren’t very happy about the sudden retirement of QB Andrew Luck as it likely takes them out of playoff contention. Would they be 2-0 right now instead of 1-1 if Luck is still in the building? Who knows? I’m not saying Brisset changes The Team’s playoff fate, but he is one heck of a competitor, who has talent. He is off to a decent start this season as he’s thrown for 336 yards and 5 TDs to 2 turnovers through two weeks. This week I have him throwing for only 200 yards against a good Atlanta Falcons secondary…but with 4 TD passes in the Red Zone. He’s a dual-threat QB who will put up very good stats, even if only he and his head coach Frank Reich are the only ones still always optimistic in Indy. His stat line: 3,755 yards passing, 32 passing TDs, and 500 rushing yards with another 4 to 5 TDs.
- Philadelphia Eagles Defense. They’re at home this week against an average Detroit Lions team. Their Defensive line has not looked as good as it has in 2017 and 2018, but I have a hunch that will change due to the recent acquisition of DT Akeem Spence. The secondary is much improved from last year as they had 3 interceptions against Matt Ryan in a gut-wrenching heartbreaking close loss (They literally lost by an inch or two) to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday night. I say they bounce back in a big way in week 3 and for the remainder of the season. Here are 5 reasons why: 1) DT Fletcher Cox is still Fletcher Cox. 2) The Linebacking corps are really starting to gel. 3) DC Jim Schwartz will find a way to get the most out of his defense. 4) DT Akeem Spence will start to put up numbers now that he’s had a couple of weeks to learn the defense. This will free up Fletcher Cox to wreak Havoc against The pass and run game. 5) The biggest weakness of the defense this year has surprisingly been their outside pass rush. Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl 52 Hero DE Brandon Graham has done a nice job, and so has backup veteran DE Vinny Curry, but the team desperately needs more from 2017 first-round pick DE Derrick Barnett (who had a really good rookie season.) I expect Barnett to step up and play to his potential which will positively impact The Philadelphia Eagles entire defense. I think that this defense is gonna hold the Detroit Lions to 13 points or less at home in a 35 to 13 win for The Birds. I’m throwing in a pick-six by Safety Malcolm Jenkins off QB Matthew Stafford. I expect the defense to build off that momentum for the rest of the season. I predict That The Eagles as per usual will finish the season as a top 5 unit.
Honorable Mention For The Season (Not Week 3) Gut Feeling:
RB Boston Scott Philadelphia Eagles: This player is by far my biggest sleeper. Hear me out. Yes, I am fully aware that my boy Scott is on the practice squad…for now. Here are a few reasons why he could be the pickup player of the year. Philadelphia Eagles fan or not keep an eye on RB Boston Scott. Remember how The Eagles Brass previously stated that Scott has the potential to be Darren Sproles 2.0? I do, and I know this coaching staff loves the kid. If Sproles hadn’t come out of retirement towards the end of training camp Boston Scott would be on The Eagles 53 man roster right now. He’s coming off two fantastic pre-seasons in a row in which he ran for 252 yards and 3 TDs. I’m frankly shocked he’s cleared waivers. Sproles was hurt for all but 2 regular-season games last year, and one game in the playoffs. I want Sproles to reach No. 5 (at least) on The NFL’s all-purpose yards list as much as the next Eagles fan, but how long will it be until Sproles inevitably gets injured again? Can Clement actually stay healthy the entire season? If/when Sproles goes down, and possibly although not hopefully
Corey Clement does as well then Boston Scott Immediately becomes the team’s number 3 option. For most offenses that would mean fairly modest numbers but not for an Eagles team that likes to rotate all of their talented RBs. The kids ready. He’s lightning fast, elusive, stronger than his 5 foot 7 frame would indicate and can cut on a dime. He belongs in the NFL. This projection may indeed be a reach, but if I am correct He’s the steal of the year for Fantasy Owners and could see substantial playing time by week 2. He reminds me of RB Alvin Kamara. I truly believe that he has Alvin Kamara scatback potential. he’s also a very good receiving option. My (maybe crazy, but possibly ingenious) projections for RB Boston Scott this season with The Eagles: 1,051 total yards rushing and receiving with 10 TDs. Update: RB Corey Clement is out with an injury. RB Boston Scott has been promoted to the teams active 53 man roster due to Corey Clements injury and figures to see significant playing time for The Eagles. Can he keep this spot and essentially beat out former SB 52 hero Corey Clement? I think so. I would pick this kid up, as The Eagles are going to use a heavy running back rotation until star WR Desean Jackson Is healthy enough to play in two weeks or so.
