Fantasy Football: Bust Alert! QB Edition

It took a lot of thought to write this article.  We know who the greats are.  Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger.  We know who sucks.  Sam Bradford and Case Keenum.  But what about those in the middle of the pack?  The over hyped QB’s who could do well, but probably won’t.  I list my 3 QB’s who should be hot, but just won’t make the cut in the end.

Tyrod Taylor  |  Buffalo Bills |  Positional ADP 18

QB Taylor just signed a 6 year contract to stay with the Bills.  He put up amazing numbers his first year as a starter for the Bills.  In fact, he even went to the Pro Bowl.  He finished 7th overall among QB’s.  He had over 3000 yards, 20 touchdowns.  Even more impressive is only 6 interceptions on the season.  Taylor can run the ball very well, adding another 568 yards and 4 more touchdowns.  He lead the league with the highest of 40 yards per game among all QB’s.  The Bills were wise to lock him up.  However, the wording on that contract shows they still aren’t convinced that he his the future.  He only has 1 year guaranteed.  Then its year to year.  He is in a tough division, and I quite frankly think he got lucky.  He clearly has the skills, but I think we shall see a regression of the QB.  He is a great late pick, for your bench.  He might have flashes.  But he wont win your games week in and week out.

Tony Romo  |  Dallas Cowboys |  Positional ADP 15

I love Romo.  When he is healthy I think he belongs in the top 10 of all time, all day everyday.  However, he cant stay healthy.  The Cowboys have the best line for a reason, and its to keep him healthy.  All it takes is one solid hit and he is done though.  And once he is hurt, his season is ruined, even if he continues to play.  I would love to see him go out and win the division and remind everyone how great he is.  The problem is if you start him, boom he gets hurt and you probably just lost your week.  For that reason alone, I will stay away, and recommend you do the same.  If nothing else, grab and bench him if you can.

Robert Griffin III  |  Cleveland Browns  |  Positional ADP 30

So, I don’t think anyone is really planning on RG3 playing like he did his rookie year.  Or even close to that.  So why did I put him on this list.  Because he quite simply should be able to.  With WR Josh Gordon coming back and head coach Hue Jackson being the miracle worker he is, I expect to see great things from RG3.  It wouldn’t surprise me to see him finish with 4000 yards and 500 more rushing.  He should be a steal in most formats to.  His week 1 preseason game showed the flash of brilliance.  All that being said, he will start the season on pace for those numbers, then fall apart.  For no explainable reason, He will go back to playing like he did his second and 3rd year.
