NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 3
Welcome to the Week 3 edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPPs plays. Week 2 may have been rough for you if you rostered one of the several players who exited the game early with an injury. Do not get too discouraged if this happened to you. Injuries do occur on a weekly basis in the NFL, but Week 2 was an exception to the rule, in terms of the number of injuries. Let’s go ahead and dive into my favorite Week 3 GPP options.
NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 3
DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day
Aaron Rodgers (GB) vs. DET $8,900
Aaron Rodgers is my DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day for Week 3. Rodgers is off to a rocky start with only 412 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and an 82.6 quarterback rating. However, I predict that he will be returned to greatness this week since he will play his first home game of 2016. Rodgers has always been much better at home than on the road, with a 109.8 quarterback rating versus a 98.2 quarterback rating. Also, he has performed much better than his career average in completion percentage and quarterback rating in 15 games against the Lions during his career.
Quarterbacks
Philip Rivers (SD) @ IND $8,000
A lot of DFS players will likely ignore Philip Rivers now that he lost another one of his favorite weapons in Danny Woodhead for the season. However, the Chargers are going to have to throw the ball a ton if they want to keep up with the Colts’ offense. Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams showed in Week 2 that they are capable of being dependable receiving options for Rivers for the rest of the season.
Dak Prescott (DAL) vs. CHI $7,100
Dak Prescott has been a solid real-life quarterback, but not a great fantasy quarterback in two games. I think Prescott may look great in both universes in a matchup against the Bears this weekend. The Bears were already an average defense at best, but they took a beating on Monday night losing two starting linebackers and their starting defensive tackle for multiple weeks. Prescott should have no problem moving the ball down the field and hopefully scoring multiple touchdowns.
Running Backs
Mark Ingram (NO) vs. ATL $6,900
Mark Ingram is off to a slow start in 2016, but there is still hope that he can still become a top ten running back in fantasy football. This week he has a great matchup against the Falcons on Monday night, who he has torched for four touchdowns in his last three games against them.
Melvin Gordon (SD) at IND $7,100
I know that Melvin Gordon is going to be chalky this weekend, but I can’t find a reason to fade him, even in GPPs. He’s cheap, he has a good matchup, and he benefits greatly from an injury to Danny Woodhead. There is absolutely no reason why he should have a bad game in Week 3.
Frank Gore (IND) vs. SD $5,00

On the flip side, Frank Gore has a great matchup as well. The Chargers have been awful against the run over the past few seasons and there is no one in the Colts’ backfield who is threatening to take away opportunities from Gore.
Wide Receivers
Dez Bryant (DAL) vs. CHI $7,900
Dez Bryant had a much better game in Week 2 against the Redskins, but his ceiling is still much higher. I already mentioned how I like Prescott a lot and I also love Bryant against the Bears. The Bears’ secondary is not very good and the rest of their defensive unit is plagued with injuries.
T.Y. Hilton (IND) vs. SD $7,400
T.Y. Hilton has historically been a boom or bust wide receiver and I have yet to see any boom this season. With Moncrief sidelined 4-6 weeks, and a great matchup against the Chargers, Hilton is primed for a huge game. This game should be a shootout between both teams and Vegas agrees, giving this game the second-highest total on the board.
Mike Evans (TB) vs. LA $8,000
Mike Evans has been a target hog through the first two games, leading the entire NFL with 24 targets. The Rams have a good front seven, but their secondary is average at best. I fully expect Jameis Winston to bounce back from a disappointing performance in Week 2 and if he does so, Evans could have a monster game.
Tight Ends
Trey Burton (PHI) at PIT $4,500
Trey Burton only played on 43%of the snaps, but he was definitely a focal point of their passing game with seven targets, five receptions and a touchdown. With another week of practice with Carson Wentz, Burton could develop even more chemistry with the rookie quarterback. Burton is definitely capable of multiple touchdowns, and if that happens at this salary you very well could be on your way to taking down a GPP contest.
Jacob Tamme (ATL) at NO $5,500
I imagine Julio Jones will be a popular player in GPPs, which means that Jacob Tamme will likely fly under the radar against a terrible Saints’ pass defense. Tamme has played on 76.9% of the Falcons’ offensive snaps through two weeks and has seen eight targets in each game.
Defense
Buccaneers (TB) vs. LA $4,500
I imagine the Dolphins’ defense will be the chalk, bargain option for GPPs, which means that you can likely get a favorable ownership percentage with the Buccaneers. The Rams have looked awful on offense through two games, with only nine points on three field goals. The Buccaneers’ defense is not great, but they are definitely improving and should have no problem with the Rams this week.
Raiders (OAK) at TEN $4,400
Another cheap defense that may fly under the radar in GPPs is the Raiders’ defense. Normally I like to target defenses that are playing at home, but the Raiders have an excellent matchup against the Titans. The Titans allowed the most FanDuel points to defenses in 2015 and so far that trend is continuing into 2016.
