NFL DFS DraftKings GPP Plays for Week 6

Hello again GF2 fans! This is Week 6 of the NFL season and the 6th edition of our DraftKings GPP plays. Week 5 saw a lot of our projected players come through for us with major production, but we also saw some others put in real dud performances. Week 6 is shaping up to have some very juicy matchups so let’s take a look at some of the top options this week.

NFL DFS DraftKings GPP Plays for Week 6

DailyFantasyNerd DraftKings GPP Play of the Day

RB Le’Veon Bell (PIT) @ MIA $7,900

Last week, I had DeMarco Murray pinned as the play of the week against Miami. Even though he failed to reach the endzone, Murray still had an impressive day with 121 rushing yards. This week, Bell gets his shot at the weak Dolphins defense.

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) @ MIA $7,500

If it appears that I’m targeting the Dolphins defense, it’s because I am. Miami is actually my favorite team to root for, which is why I know just how bad they really are. Big Ben will have no problem exploiting the Dolphins terrible secondary this week, and should be able to put up phenomenal numbers.

There is the chance for a blowout this week, which could make the Steelers lean on the run game. Ben has been extraordinary to start the year against tougher opponents. He has scored over 30 fantasy points in his last two outings, and it’s a safe bet this will be the third.

Derek Carr (OAK) vs. KC $6,500

The Raiders are 4-1 and tied with Denver atop the AFC West. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Raiders atop the division after five weeks, and it’s all thanks to Derek Carr. Oakland has another division matchup this week against the Chiefs.

Carr may not have the highest ceiling among QBs, but he is one of the more consistent players for GPP that won’t destroy your lineup. The Chiefs are coming off of a bye, and although normally a tough defense, just gave up five touchdown passes to Big Ben in Week 4.

Alex Smith (KC) @ OAK $5,700

Andy Reid and the Chiefs are throwing the ball more this year than we are used to seeing. Through four games, Alex Smith has attempted no less than 33 pass attempts, and just last week threw 50 against Pittsburgh. His fantasy numbers still don’t jump out at you, but going up against Oakland’s last place pass defense is an intriguing matchup to say the least. Almost any game featuring the Raiders has the potential for a shootout, and this is no exception. Smith very well could put up similar numbers to Week 1 when he finished with 32.0 fantasy points against San Diego.

Other Notables: Drew Brees (NO) vs. CAR $7,900, Brian Hoyer (CHI) vs. JAX $5,800, Trevor Siemian* (DEN) @ SD $5,200

Running Backs

DeMarco Murray (TEN) vs. CLE $7,700

I’m sure DeMarco Murray would have liked to have scored a touchdown last week in Miami, but he didn’t disappoint fantasy owners, and the Titans got the win. Murray has now recorded at least 21.5 fantasy points in every game so far this season. The Titans now welcome the Browns to Tennessee, who rank 22nd against running backs this year. Both Bell and Murray are the closest thing to a guarantee this weekend.

LeSean McCoy (BUF) vs. SF $6,900

McCoy has been outstanding the past three weeks, and it’s had a positive effect for Buffalo, who have now won three in a row. The Bills get a lighter matchup this week with the 49ers at home. San Francisco ranks 27th against running backs, which could lead to another big day for McCoy.

After struggling some the first two weeks, McCoy has racked up 330 yards just on the ground in the past three. His salary continues to rise, but averaging 20.6 fantasy points on 20 touches a game, shows he’s well worth the salary.

Carlos Hyde (SF) @ BUF $5,100

The Carlos Hyde we’ve seen the past few weeks is the Carlos Hyde we were expecting to see last year. His strong performances thus far shows how much of a factor he can be when healthy. Buffalo has been hot these last three weeks, but their defense still ranks in the bottom half against running backs.

Despite the fairly consistent numbers Hyde has put up this season, his DraftKings salary has never been more than $5,600, and that was in Week 1. To be fair, DraftKings determines salary not just on the player, but based on quality of opponent as well. But at $5,100 this can almost be considered a strong value play.

Other Notables: Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) vs. GB $7,000, Christine Michael (SEA) vs. ATL $6,800, Jordan Howard (CHI) vs. JAX $6,200, Melvin Gordon (SD) vs. DEN $5,600

Wide Receivers

Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) vs. NYJ $7,700

Fitzgerald is coming off of a two touchdown performance last Thursday against the Niners. Next up for the Cardinals are the Jets at home on Monday night. The Jets just allowed Antonio Brown and Sammie Coates to combine for over 200 yards receiving and three touchdowns in a lopsided loss to the Steelers. Head coach Bruce Arians is starting to use Fitz in the slot at an increased rate, which is strengthening Fitz’s fantasy value.

Doug Baldwin (SEA) vs. ATL $6,500

Doug Baldwin is an up and down fantasy player, but he’s fairly consistent at it. Based on his track record, he’s expected to go off again this week, and gets a great matchup against Atlanta. The Falcons defense surprisingly played well in last week’s upset victory over Denver, but they benefited going up against a rookie quarterback in Paxton Lynch.

Russell Wilson is much more mobile with great ability at throwing on the run. Baldwin should be able to get past Atlanta’s secondary, and receive more targets than the four he saw in Week 4.

Sammie Coates (PIT) @ MIA $4,700

Coates was fantastic against the Jets last week, and now gets a shot to prove it wasn’t a fluke against Miami this week. As much as I love Antonio Brown this week against the Dolphins, it’s tough to fit him in your lineup this week at such an expensive price. The next best thing is Coates at over half the discounted price. Brown may be the preferred option, but Coates has seen more targets the last two weeks and evidently has the trust of Big Ben.

Other Notables: Allen Robinson (JAX) @ CHI $7,800, Michael Crabtree (OAK) vs. KC %6,900, Jeremy Kerley (SF) @ BUF $4,000

Tight Ends

Delanie Walker (TEN) vs. CLE $5,500

Walker had a nice bounce back game last week against the Dolphins with five receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown. QB Marcus Mariota has targeted Walker eight times in each of the last two weeks. The Browns are ranked last against tight ends, making Walker a nice play this week despite the increase in salary.

Travis Kelce (KC) @ OAK $5,000

Kelce continues to be the most consistent receiver in the Chiefs’ arsenal. He’s now scored in each of the last two games, with a date scheduled against the Raiders this Sunday. Oakland was supposed to have an improved defense, but it’s been their offense that has carried them to their 4-1 start. The Raiders have struggled this season against tight ends, so I expect Alex Smith to get his leading receiver going early in this divisional matchup.

Other Notables: Greg Olsen (CAR) @ NO $7,000, Jimmy Graham (SEA) vs. ATL $4,900

Defense

Buffalo vs. SF $3,700

Outside of their division matchup against the Jets in Week 2, the Bills defense has been exceptional so far this year. They are just a week and a half removed from their shutout victory in New England. Even without Tom Brady, that’s still impressive.

What makes Buffalo such an intriguing fantasy option is their ability to get after the quarterback and create turnovers. The Bills rank 4th in the league with 17 sacks and 3rd in takeaways with 11 through five games. The 49ers have already announced that Colin Kaepernick will be the starter this week, who could be tougher to chase around than Blaine Gabbert. The Ryan brothers have never been shy about rushing the quarterback, however, and the change should have little impact on the game plan or the result.

Other Notables: Pittsburgh @ MIA $3,400, Tennessee vs. CLE $3,300
