NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Conference Championship Weekend

Welcome to the Conference Championship edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPP plays. There are only two games this weekend, so we will really have to get creative to differentiate ourselves from the pack. Just as a reminder, this article is not meant to be an actual FanDuel GPP lineup, but rather an article focusing on some good stand-alone options for your GPP lineup. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite GPP options for Conference Championship Weekend.

NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Conference Championship Weekend

DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day

LeGarrette Blount (NE) vs. PIT  $6,500

Last week Dion Lewis was the running back to own for the Patriots. However, I believe that it will switch back to LeGarrette Blount. Blount was dealing with an illness all last week so it is possible that he was less than 100% in that game on Saturday night. Lewis will still be involved, but I doubt he will see five more touches than Blount this week. At a significantly lower expected ownership percentage, I would rather take Blount since he is capable of scoring multiple touchdowns.

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers (GB) @ ATL $9,600

Aaron Rodgers showed that is, in fact, human after throwing his first interception in nearly two months. I think he will be popular again this week, but I believe his salary will cause Matt Ryan to have higher ownership. Even though Montgomery scored a couple of short-yardage rushing touchdowns, the Packers really do not a great running game. Rodgers has attempted at least 38 passing attempts in each of his last four games and I do not expect that to change against the Falcons, who have allowed the third-most FanDuel points to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Running Backs

Tevin Coleman (ATL) vs. GB $6,300
Devonta Freeman is considered the lead running back for the Falcons, but the combo of him and Tevin Coleman almost operate at a 50/50 split in touches and snaps. Considering that Coleman is $1,700 less than Freeman, I think that Coleman is a much better GPP option since he will still be less popular and he is more than capable of scoring more points than Freeman.

Ty Montgomery (GB) @ ATL $6,900
I know just a little bit ago I mentioned that the Packers do not have a running game, but that does not mean we have to ignore Ty Montgomery. He probably will not rush for more than 100 yards, but he could have more than 100 yards when you add in his receiving yards. I don’t think a lot of people will pair Montgomery and Rodgers together, but if Montgomery can just get one receiving touchdown it will be totally worth it.

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown (PIT) @ NE  $8,800
I honestly do not believe that Antonio Brown will be nearly as high owned as he typically is since people will probably load up Le’Veon Bell. Anytime that happens, I definitely want to have some exposure to him since he is capable of scoring multiple touchdowns and gaining more than 150 yards. Brown had a solid game against the Patriots earlier this season with seven receptions and 107 yards without Ben Roethlisberger. I think the Patriots win this game, but I really believe that they will have a hard time slowing down Brown.

Randall Cobb (GB) @  ATL $6,500
Normally I do not like recommending really chalky plays for GPPs. However, it’s hard to avoid situations like this on a two-game slate. The Packers’ wide receivers are really banged up with Nelson unlikely to play, Devante Adams questionable and Geronimo Allison questionable. Therefore, Rodgers will likely lean on Cobb and I do not believe the Falcons have the personnel in the secondary to slow him down.

Taylor Gabriel (ATL) vs. GB $6,000
Taylor Gabriel had a decent game against the Seahawks last weekend with four receptions and 71 yards. Julio Jones is likely going to be less than 100% healthy and even though he will likely suit up, I could see him being hindered by the foot injury. When Jones missed a couple of games during the regular season, Gabriel had a couple of really good games. I think most people thinking the same think about Julio will likely pivot to Mohamed Sanu instead, making Gabriel an excellent contrarian GPP option this weekend.

Tight End

Martellus Bennett (NE) vs. PIT $5,500
Martellus Bennett has been kind of a disappointment since Rob Gronkowski went down with a season-ending injury. However, Bennett has scored a touchdown in three of his last five games. There is no doubt that Jared Cook will be the chalk this week, but he has really only had one good game this season, which happened to be this past weekend. Bennett does have multiple touchdown upside and if he does that he will definitely separate you from the pack in GPPs.

Defense

Patriots (NE) vs. PIT $4,400
This week really is terrible for defenses and you’re essentially picking your poison. With that being said, I am for sure avoiding both defenses in the incredibly high expected total in the NFC Championship. Therefore, by default, I’m going to use the Patriots’ defense, even though they will likely be high owned. Ben Roethlisberger is not a good quarterback on the road, so it is possible that he does have a couple of turnovers in this game.
