2017 NFL DraftKings GPP Plays for Week 6

Is it really Week 6 already? Seriously, where does the time go? In Week 5 we saw another round of injuries across the NFL, including four wide receivers on the New York Giants, headlined by Odell Beckham Jr. lost for the season.

No one can quite explain why the amount of injuries in the past few seasons has continued to pile up compared to seasons past. They do open the door for other players, however, to step up in their absence. Whether that makes them legitimate fantasy options or not remains to be seen. Here’s a look at this week’s recommended GPP plays on DraftKings.

The Gamefly DraftKings GPP Plays forĀ Week 6

Quarterbacks

Deshaun Watson (HOU) vs. CLE $6,700

Watson has made his case early for Rookie of the Year honors. He’s coming off back-to-back five touchdown games, and now gets the 0-5 Browns next on the schedule. This is a fantastic matchup for Watson, but unfortunately, his usage is expected to be rather high. The production is superb, however, as he has averaged 31.8 fantasy points in the last three games. The Browns defense has improved some, but Watson should have his way with them in this one.

Jacoby Brissett (IND) @ TEN $5,800

Brissett continues to improve as a starter, even if the Colts remain in the bottom half of the league. Last week against the 49ers, Brissett threw for over 300 yards for the first time this season, and rushed for a touchdown. He could see similar production in terms of yards, and maybe multiple touchdowns in a Monday night showdown against the Titans poor defense.

Other Notables: Kirk Cousins (WAS) vs. SF $6,800, Carson Palmer (ARI) vs. TB $6,100

Running Backs

Andre Ellington (ARI) vs. TB $5,300

There are some good running back options on slate this week from top to bottom. If you don’t want to spend too much at RB, however, I wouldn’t look further than Andre Ellington. The Cardinals traded for Adrian Peterson on Tuesday, but that shouldn’t impact Ellington’s playing time, particularly with the release of Chris Johnson. Ellington has 18 receptions off of 24 targets in the last two games, and his role should continue in that direction against Tampa Bay.

DeMarco Murray (TEN) vs. IND $5,200

It’s been a frustrating season for DeMarco Murray owners, who have seen a major dip in his production. Part of that has been because of the involvement with Derrick Henry, but Murray has also been dealing with a hamstring issue. Murray seems to be healthy, at least for now, and with Marcus Mariota expected to miss at least one more week, the Titans are expected to lean heavily on their favored back. The Titans desperately need a win, and should be extra motivated against their division rival on Monday night.

Other Notables: Elijah McGuire (NYJ) vs. NE $4,600, Alvin Kamara (NO) vs. DET $4,500

Wide Receivers

Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) vs. TB $6,800

The Bucs did a good job of keeping Tom Brady and the Patriots out of the end zone last Thursday, but that didn’t stop New England from racking up yards against the Bucs defense. Fitzgerald is phenomenal at getting between defenses, not to mention his great hands. He’s had a pair of average performances in the last two games, but continues to average double-digit targets, putting him in line for a breakout game on Sunday.

T.Y. Hilton (IND) @ TEN $6,700

I suggested Hilton in last week’s GPP plays, and he was nothing short of spectacular. I’m rolling the dice on Hilton again this week against a Titans defense ranked 28th against wide receivers. While he may not be able to match the 177 yards he sustained last week, he could find the end zone once or twice in place. If Jack Doyle misses another game, Hilton should see a slight increase in targets as well.

Devin Funchess (CAR) vs. PHI $6,100

You may have guessed by now, but Devin Funchess appears to be the wide receiver to own in Carolina, ahead of Kelvin Benjamin. While Funchess hasn’t surpassed 100 yards receiving in any game so far, he’s benefiting from the absence of Greg Olsen. Funchess has three touchdown receptions in the last two games, and will look to continue his hot streak against the Eagles 29th ranked passing defense.

Other Notables: Golden Tate (DET) @ NO $6,800, Adam Thielen (MIN) vs. GB $6,000

Tight Ends

Austin Seferian-Jenkins (NYJ) vs. NE $4,300

Can you believe that the Jets are actually playing for first place in the division this week? No one expects them to win, but that doesn’t mean they can’t find success against the struggling Patriots defense. ASJ has been actively involved in the Jets offense since he started playing in Week 3. He hasn’t yet surpassed 50 yards receiving in the three games he’s played, but he is averaging five receptions per game, which is better than a lot of tight ends out there. The Patriots have struggled mightily against tight ends so ASJ could get a bump in targets from Josh McCown.

Other Notables: Cameron Brate (TB) @ ARI $3,900, Evan Engram (NYG) @ DEN $3,800

Defense

Atlanta vs. MIA $3,500

Jay Cutler is still the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. Enough said.

Other Notables: Baltimore vs. CHI $3,700, Green Bay @ MIN $2,800
