Pitchers

Justin Verlander
It’s a slate with wealth of good pitchers, but Verlander has one of the best matchups. He’s priced with the elite options, so you’ll have to find value bats to fit him, but he’s well worth it. He’ll face the White Sox who strike out 26.2% of the time, third highest rate in the league. Verlander has strikeout upside by himself. Combine his talent with a high strikeout lineup, and he makes a case for the top option on the slate.
Trevor Bauer
Speaking of good matchups, Bauer will face the Orioles who strike out at the highest rate in the league at 28.4%. Not only do the Orioles strike out a ton, they have been a weak offense so far this year with a wRC+ of 75, fifth lowest in the league. At $9,400, Bauer makes a case for your SP2, and is a potential SP1 in tournaments. Bauer has a low OTT of 3.5 (see pitcher chart), and is a favorite. He checks all of the boxes on Friday night.
Chris Archer
Archer is another fantastic tournament play. He’s priced in the second tier of pitchers, giving you a few more bats if you play him, especially if you pair him with Bauer. He’ll face the Twins who take a huge park hit traveling to Tropicana Field. The Twins strike out 25% of the time, eighth highest rate in the league. The Twins can put up some runs and Archer has an OTT of four, so I probably won’t roster him in cash games, but he will be in my tournament lineups.
Max Scherzer/Clayton Kershaw
Both Scherzer and Kershaw are also in play, but are priced above $12,000 on DraftKings. Ii like Verlander better than both tonight, but they are all very close at the top of the pitching projections.

Hitters
Coors Bats
Charlie Blackmon is the top option tonight. The Rockies will face Kyle Hendricks in Coors Field. While the Cubs are also in play, they’ll have a much tougher test against Jon Gray. Blackmon is the top Rockies option followed by Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez. Gerrardo Parra is the only Rockies bat that can be considered a “value pick” with a price tag of $3,200 on DraftKings. The Cubs bats are also in play, but are more likely to be a tournament stack if you pay down for pitching. Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant top the Cubs’ projections while Ian Happ and Kyle Schwarber are also solid options. With all the expensive pitching options, it will be hard to fit Coors bats, and we may see lower ownership than normal from Coors. Because of that, they make great tournament plays, but may not be the best options in cash games.
Justin Bour
Bour faces Jhoulys Chacin in Miller Park. While Bour disappointed yesterday, Chase Anderson is somewhat of a reverse-spits righty, meaning he’s actually better against lefties than righties. Chacin, however, is much better against righties, but struggles against lefties. Bour will have the platoon advantage, and will probably bat cleanup. Miller Park is a one of the best parks for lefty power, and Bour is the top value at first base.
