Charlie Morton

Morton will face Cleveland in Progressive Field. It’s a tough park for Morton, and Cleveland is a tough offense. It’s not an ideal spot, but on a small slate like this, I’m playing tournaments more than cash games. Morton has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart) on the day and owns the highest strikeout rate on the slate. He’s scored 25+ DK points in seven of his nine starts this year and has the highest ceiling of all the pitchers on the slate.

Dylan Bundy

Bundy will face the White Sox in Guaranteed Rate Field. He’s priced reasonable, especially on a short slate. The White Sox have the seventh highest strikeout rate in the league, and will have a righty-heavy lineup. Bundy struggled for part of the season, but has flashed upside throughout the year. He’s my favorite pitcher on Thursday and is viable for both cash games and tournaments.

Danny Duffy

Duffy will face the Rangers in Globe Life Park. He has not been good this season with a SIERA near five, but there is upside in this matchup. First, Duffy costs just $4,300. He also has a great matchup against the Rangers who strike out 28% of the time against lefties, highest rate in the league. The Rangers also have the third worst wRC+ in the league. Duffy may be risky for cash games, even at his cheap price, but I’m playing mostly tournaments, so I’m willing to sacrifice safety for upside.

Hitters

Mike Trout

Trout will face Marco Estrada in the Rogers Centre. Trout is the top overall hitter on the slate, and has the second highest home run projection. Estrada has given up 1.95 HR/9 this season and has a SIERA of 4.85. Trout is priced at $5,400, making him affordable on today’s slate.

Mike Moustakas

Moustakas will face Austin Bibens-Dirkx in Globe Life Park. He’ll have the platoon advantage and has the highest home run projection on the slate. Bibens-Dirkx hasn’t pitched in the majors this season, but last year, he gave up 1.82 HR/9 and projects for a similar mark this year. Moustakas has a small split, so if Bibens-Dirkx gets chased early, he should be able to handle the bullpen as well. Moustakas has as much upside as anyone on the slate and costs just $4,400.
