Pitchers

Zack Godley

Godley will face the Giants in AT&T Park. He has an OTT of 3.5 (see pitcher chart), tied with four others for the lowest on the slate. The Giants strike out 24.7% of the time, sixth highest rate in the league. I actually expect that strikeout number to drop as the season goes along, making Godley a bit less appealing. I expect Godley to be highly owned, and he will probably project to score the most DK points once lineups are out, but it will be close. I’m not convinced he’ll have enough separation between the cheaper pitchers to be used in my lineups.

Julio Teheran

Teheran will face the Padres in SunTrust Park. The Padres have the highest strikeout rate in the league at 25.9%. They also have the sixth worst wRC+. Teheran has been bad recently, averaging 7.9 DK points per game over his last four. He displayed upside at the beginning of the year, averaging 26 DK points per game over his first five starts that he threw at least 90 pitches. I’m not sure which Teheran we’ll get on Monday, but I’m willing to take a shot against the strikeout-prone Padres.

Domingo German

German will face the Tigers in Comerica Park. He’s the biggest favorite on the slate and has an OTT of four. The Tigers have been a solid offense against lefties this season, but German has the highest strikeout rate on the slate. It also helps that this is the second half of a double-header as there may be a few more holes in the Tigers’ lineup after the early game. Every pitcher on the slate looks like a tournament play, so I’ll be fading cash games altogether and taking a few shots at pitcher ceilings in tournaments.

Hitters

Yankees Bats

The Yankees will face Mike Fiers in Comerica Park. The Yankees have a team run total of 5.5, making them the clear top offense. Fiers is a great pitcher to pick on since he allows both home runs and stolen bases. Fiers is also a reverse-splits pitcher, giving right handed bats the advantage. Giancarlo Stanton has been cold recently, but I’ll still take him over Aaron Judge, especially for the $700 discount on DraftKings. Greg Bird is the best value from this team, priced at $4,000. Gary Sanchez is the top play on the slate at catcher, but like Stanton, he has been cold recently. In tournaments, struggling players don’t bother me as their ownership will be lower than if they were playing well. Since I’m playing tournaments today, I’m not excluding any hitters from my lineups.

Angels Bats

The Angels will face Danny Duffy in Angel Stadium. Duffy isn’t as bad as Fiers, but on a four game slate, the Angels have the second highest team run total. Mike Trout is the top play on the slate, but is priced at $6,000. I’ll still take Trout over every Yankees bat, but we’ll have to pay down somewhere to fit him into lineups. Justin Upton is the best value, priced at $4,000. He’s also been cold, but at his price, I’m willing to take a chance on him. Finally, Zack Cozart and Ian Kinsler both have affordable prices. I’ll watch lineups to see if either of them are leading off, making them one of the top value plays.

Kurt Suzuki

There are plenty of bats to pay up for on the slate, so if I need to save at catcher, Suzuki stands out as the best option. He’ll have the platoon advantage against Clayton Richard and costs $3,600. Richard has a wide platoon split, giving Suzuki the advantage. As a pivot off of Sanchez, and a way to save salary, I like Suzuki at catcher on Monday.
