NFL Player Comparison | Damien Harris
2020 Rookie Draft Projection | Fourth-Fifth Round
Bottom Line
Darius Anderson enters to NFL Draft as an efficient running back in college. He was not a workhorse, as he never eclipsed 150 rushing attempts in a season. Anderson did run for 5.6 yards per attempt in his collegiate career and score 18 times on only 430 total carries. He is a home-run hitter. If the blocking is acceptable, Anderson can take any play to the house, with his combination of speed and explosiveness.
Anderson compares closely to an RB from last year’s rookie class. Both Anderson and Damien Harris did not see 150 carries or 20 receptions in a season until their final collegiate years. But it is not just workload that ties these two. Athletically, Anderson and Harris are similar. Harris has a slightly faster speed score, but Anderson edges him out with his burst score. Among all the running backs that I evaluated this season, Andeson had the 5th best burst score. That short-area explosiveness is important for productive running backs in the NFL.
Furthermore, footwork is the trait that Anderson grades best among his peers, with my 2nd highest score among this RB class. However, there is an are that could use some work. Anderson ranks 20th among the incoming rookie runners in body positioning. At times, he runs too upright which can enable defenders to stop his momentum more easily. Even so, in my opinion, Anderson is among the best interior runners in this class. After a clear top 5 at rookie RB, Anderson might be #6, as long as he lands with a good offensive line.
