Fantasy Football Week 15 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

As usual let’s look at how Week 14’s streamers before diving into Week 15 (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback-Philip Rivers: 17.76 points
Tight End-Logan Thomas: 7.30 points
Team Defense-Washington: 23 points

As we head into the second week of the playoffs in most leagues, here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 15.

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals

Hurts had a tough matchup for his first NFL start in Week 14, then put up 273 total yards (106 rushing) with a passing touchdown against the New Orleans Saints on his way to finishing as QB13 for the week (19.28 points). He will start in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals enter Week 15 in the top half of the league against quarterbacks. But they’re also coming off allowing a net 1.8 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) to Daniel Jones and Colt McCoy last week. Prior to that, five of the previous six quarterbacks they faced accounted for multiple touchdowns and topped 20 fantasy points. All six of those quarterbacks either scored a rushing touchdown or had at least 35 rushing yards.

Hurts is lined up to be a top-12 fantasy quarterback in Week 15 (and Week 16, for that matter). With rushing upside and a matchup that’s better than it looks, the rookie signal caller is my top quarterback streamer for the week.

Others To Consider: Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts vs. Houston Texans; Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (Thursday night); Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns at New York Giants (Sunday night); Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings; Drew Lock, Denver Broncos vs. Buffalo Bills (Saturday); Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots; Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers (Saturday night)

Tight End: Irv Smith, Jr., Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears

Smith returned in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and with Kyle Rudolph (foot) out he had four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. If Rudolph remains out in Week 15, or even if he does play, Smith is a good spot.

The Chicago Bears are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR), with nine touchdowns allowed to the position (tied for third-most). It should be 10 touchdowns allowed to tight ends, but Jordan Akins (and the sun?) did not cooperate last week.

Smith has scored or topped 50 yards in four of his last six games, and he got both done last week. He’s good bet to do both again against the Bears, which gives him the nod as my top tight end streamer for Week 15.

Others To Consider: Dan Arnold, Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles; Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team vs. Seattle Seahawks; Gerald Everett/Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Jets; Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings; Jordan Akins, Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

Team Defense: Cleveland Browns at New York Giants

The Browns have allowed 80 points in their last two games, including 45 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. But had seven sacks over those two games, and the matchup in Week 15 is great.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (hamstring) was clearly not 100 percent in Week 14, and the Arizona Cardinals took advantage by sacking him six times. All told, Arizona sacked Giants’ quarterbacks eight times with three fumble recoveries while allowing seven points. Even if he’s healthy and able to move normally, Jones is prone to taking sacks and dishing out turnovers.

With an eye on this week and next against the New York Jets, the Browns’ defense was a stash candidate in fantasy leagues. They qualify as a streamer for this week at least, so they get the nod here.
