The Only Fantasy Waiver Article You’ll Need for Week 2

Every week this year, the GoingFor2 team will collaborate to bring you all the top waiver wire adds for each week. We will use Sleeper’s redraft Roster Percentage and feature any player under 50-percent that we think needs to be added.

WR Zach Pascal (IND) – 4% Rostered

This is far from a sexy pick. However, when you score a pair of touchdowns, it merits an add. Pascal won’t be peppered with targets each week. The Colts will still be without T.Y. Hilton a few more weeks and opposing teams will likely be covering Michael Pittman first. Pascal should bring WR3/FLEX with game script upside week to week until Hilton returns.

TE Juwan Johnson (NO) – 5% Rostered

This isn’t a player you’re breaking the bank for by any means but we saw Jared Cook score a lot of touchdowns in New Orleans and Juwan Johnson is going to get the opportunity to do the same, especially with the Michael Thomas injury creating a lack of receiving options for close to the first half of the season. Marquez Callaway was pegged to be the next man up although we didn’t see that come to fruition in week 1.

What we did see though, is Winston looked to be in mid-season form throwing for 5 touchdowns with Johnson being on the receiving end of two of them. Juwan Johnson is a big body and should continue to be a top red zone option for Winston moving forward. He’s not a player you’re starting next week but he’s definitely worth picking up and stashing on your bench with the lack of receiving options in New Orleans.

RB Elijah Mitchell (SF) – 5% Rostered

Elijah Mitchell will likely cost you all of your FAAB but he could be worth it. Raheem Mostert will be back in the mix sooner rather than later but he has struggled to stay on the field his entire career. Mitchell is the shifty RB that Kyle Shanahan always wanted Jerrick McKinnon to be.

Leave it to Shanny to get a healthy, young McKinnon clone in the sixth round and plug him in for 100-plus rushing yards in Week 1. Mitchell put the preseason jitters behind him and ran the rock with decisiveness against the Lions. I believe he has established a role on this offense for the foreseeable future.

RB Mark Ingram (HOU) – 12% Rostered

Volume is King for running backs and even in a backfield speculated to be split, Mark Ingram emerged dominant. Ingram led running backs with 26 attempts and only had four less touches than CMC! Facing one of the worst run defenses in the league didn’t hurt unfortunately for his long term outlook.

He won’t see another walk in the park defensive line until Week Nine against Miami. Still, Tyrod Taylor is likely to have a short leas on that arm of his and the running game could be key for Houston. With Ingram’s resurrection, he is worth a good, hard look, if not a streaming option.

WR Tim Patrick (DEN) – 3% Rostered

Following Jerry Jeudy’s injury (high-ankle sprain), Tim Patrick will move up on the Broncos’ depth chart and get the targets from Jeudy. In Week 1 Patrick played 46 of 66 total snaps. His role with the Broncos will increase and he could be a WR with upside – especially in deeper leagues.

Chris Nass @NassNFL

TE David Njoku (CLE) – 4% Rostered

Yes this is not a sexy pick but all you should care about is winning championships. David Njoku is a pick for people who stream Tight Ends, or play in deeper leagues. The Browns like to use multiple Tight end sets and in Week 1 Njoku had a 60 percent snap share.

Mike Hicks @dropthemikeFF

WR Elijah Moore (NYJ) – 66% Rostered*

Ignore the final outcome, -3 receiving yards on 1 reception on 4 targets is not pretty. If you can look past that for one minute and read what I have to say you will see why you should not drop him and for those who own him keep him stashed.

One target would have been a 50 plus yard reception which he dropped, and he did have a 22 yard reception nullified by a flag. That is 9.2 points right there he missed on debut. Combine this with the fact he was on the field for 90% of the team snaps, there is plenty of room to grow for Moore.

Yes, I know Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole are returning, they were not a concern for you when Moore was drafted, why should they be season long on one bad game.

Hamid Sandhu @FFJunkie85

WR KJ Osborn (MIN) – 0% Rostered

Don’t read too much into what I am not writing. This is not a post against Justin Jefferson or Adam Thielen. They are clearly the first and second option in this passing attack. However, with Irv Smith out someone had to become the third option and Osborn stepped up (9 targets, 7 catches). Being the third option means he will be drawing the third matchup from the defensive assignments and he can capitalize (9 targets, T-2nd w/ Justin Jefferson).

Now, 6 of the targets came while down 10+ points, so the game script was aligned for the 11 personnel usage, but he still saw 67 snaps overall for a total of 81% of the offensive snaps. Also, with matchups against the Cardinals, Seahawks and Browns over the next three weeks, I think we will see a game script where the Vikings continue using the 11 personnel and Osborn continues to soak up targets. During this stretch he should carry value as a WR3/deep-flex option during this stretch.

WR Anthony Schwartz (CLE) – 2% Rostered

This is more of a deeper league add, but if he’s available in any dynasty format he should be added but highly doubtful. I loved this guy at Auburn, I think he could contend for WR3 in Cleveland and if someone gets banged up he could be a solid add. OBJ was out week 1 so that obviously helped. Disclosure I wouldn’t add him in redraft, this is more ment for leagues with depth.

Jared Good @TheYetiExpress

WR Christian Kirk (ARI) – 19% Rostered

Could this be the year we finally see the breaout of Christian Kirk? If Week 1 was indication, the answer to that is a resounding yes. After catching five passes for 70 yards and two TDs against the Titans, all the Kirk truthers are making victory laps. Every week may not be as good as Week 1, but he is worth the add for his tremendous upside.
