Fantasy Football Week 8 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before diving into Week 8, let see how Week 7’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring; 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Tua Tagovailoa-28.54 points
Tight End: Ricky Seals-Jones-8.10 points
Team Defense: New Orleans Saints-9 points

With only two teams on a bye (Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders) after last week’s “Bye-pocalypse”, here are my top quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 8.

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos vs. Washington Football Team

Bridgewater was banged up and largely not all that effective in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. But he has multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games, with extra time to heal up before a nice Week 8 matchup.

The Washington Football Team is allowing the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season by a fair margin. Five straight signal callers have thrown multiple passing touchdowns against them (four with a least three), and all but one all season has accounted for multiple touchdowns. Only one (Daniel Jones) has not thrown for more than 270 yards, and if not for some drops and missed connections in that game he easily would have.

Bridgewater may get wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (ankle) back for Sunday’s game, which will only add to a solid group of weapons for Denver against a bad defense at home. I’m generally down on Bridgewater as a talent, but this matchup is too good to ignore.

Others To Consider: Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Kansas City City Chiefs (Monday Night); Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans; Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills; Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football at Denver Broncos; Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks; Jameis Winston, New Orlean Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Justin Fields, Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers

Tight End: C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets

Uzomah had three catches for 91 yards and two touchdpwns against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7. He has scored in three of the last four games (five total), with over 90 yards in two of those. The rub is he has more than three targets just once in seven games this season, but a nice matchup is coming in Week 8.

The New York Jets enter Week 8 allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to tight ends (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR). Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons, when Kyle Pitts and Hayden Hurst combined for 13 catches (15 targets), 159 yards and two touchdowns, skews the number. That said, the Jets are in the bottom-10 against tight ends across the board on a per game basis and their defense is broadly bad.

Uzomah is down the pecking order for targets in the Bengals’ passing game. But he’s making the most of his opportunities, and Cincinnati’s coaching staff will surely see an opportunity to feature him more this week. It’s never all that deep for streamers at tight end, but Uzomah stands atop the heap for Week 8.

Others To Consider: Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington Football Team at Denver Broncos; Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers; Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks; Evan Engram, New York Giants at Kansas City Chiefs (Monday Night); Jonnu Smith, New England Patriots at Los Angeles (check health); Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys (Sunday Night)

Team Defense: Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets

Cincinnati’s defense was dropped in droves entering Week 7, with a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens explaining it easily. Then they went and delivered a solid outing, holding the Ravens to 17 points and sacking Lamar Jackson five times. A far better matchup is coming in Week 8. They have allowed 17 points or less in four of their last six games.

The New York Jets were not an offensive juggernaut with Zach Wilson under center, and now their rookie signal caller will miss 2-4 weeks with a knee injury. So Mike White, who had not taken a regular season snap before Week 7, and the newly acquired (re-acquired) Joe Flacco are the options to replace Wilson. It’s not out of the question that both play on Sunday.

Whatever way the Jets go at quarterback, the Bengals defense is in a fail-safe position this week. A very high ceiling and a high floor make them easily the top team defense streamer for Week 8.
