The Most Overvalued and Undervalues Fantasy Players of Week 9
Overvalued
Travis Kelce TE Chiefs
Pains me to say this as he is still an elite Top 3 TE, but what is happening with the Chiefs? Kelce was drafted in round one as an elite pass catcher and blocker who in 2020 had 1416 yards, 11 touchdowns, and finished as the #1 TE. Week 8, he had three fantasy points, four receptions, and 27 yards. OUCH! This was all against the Giants’ defense on Monday Night Football, where the Chiefs were to shine. Granted they do manage to secure the win, but it was a struggle.
He has not broken the 20-fantasy point mark since Week 2. I am worried about Mahomes and this Chiefs offense. For Kelce to be successful, Mahomes has to be as well. The Chiefs face Green Bay, Vegas, and Dallas before heading into a desperately needed bye in Week 12, where hopefully they reevaluate and refocus.
Kelce cannot be left on benches because he is so powerful and productive, but until he and Mahomes begin clicking again, I am not talking him up in any fantasy circles. Don’t shoot the messenger, but the Chiefs are floundering and Kelce isn’t looking like the pedigree TE we have come to love.
Undervalued
Mac Jones QB Patriots
When are we finally going to give this young man the credit he deserves. Jones is spreading the ball around like confetti and adding some running yardage to his pocket passing. He has 1,997 yards to date, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions, and in Week 8 he led the Patriots to a road win versus the Chargers.
I drafted this kid a lot, knowing that Belichick would develop him and turn his potential into greatness, I just didn’t think it would be so soon. Now, I am not saying he is Top 10 greatness, but he is creeping up the leader boards weekly. He is a great plug-and-play especially right now with injuries and Covid uncertainties. Week 9, Jones faces the tough Carolina defense, but remember Week 4 vs the stout Tampa Bay defense?
He still completed 31 or 40 attempts for 275 yards, so I have faith he can find a way to get 250+ yards and two to three touchdowns on Sunday. The Patriots’ upcoming schedule looks promising with Cleveland, Atlanta, Tennessee, and Buffalo, with only Buffalo’s defense really scaring me off Jones. He is worth a bench stash and in deeper leagues, Superflex leagues should already be added. Dare I say, he is the best rookie QB currently? Owned in 28% of Yahoo and 15% of ESPN leagues.

Week 8, Carter had 178 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ crazy domination of the Bengals. I have been preaching Carter’s potential since the off-season, and I have him rostered in more leagues than I can count. He is a stud who is finally being released on opposing defenses.
Week 9 and 10, he faces the Colts and the Bills respectively, which he will be tested, but after that, his schedule lightens and he can and will be a game-changer/league winner. I hate playing Thursday night players, but Carter has the pass-catching ability to project him into the Top-15 RB discussion.
The Colts defense has allowed 976 yards rushing on 212 attempts this season thus far. A lot of analysts will tell you this might be a one-week fluke, but I am betting a lot on Carter and willing to ride him to the end. Rostered in 69% of ESPN leagues and 75% of Yahoo, scan that waiver wire for him!
