The Only Waiver Wire Article You Need, Week 3 (2022)
I asked the GoingFor2 team for their top waivers wire pickups this week, and the following is what they said…
WR Greg Dortch (ARI)
The Human Dortch. We knew coming into the season that the Arizona Cardinals would have some targets to go around. With Christian Kirk leaving in free agency and DeAndre Hopkins suspended the first 6 games there was a lot of potential in the pass catching options. Through 2 games it looks like Greg Dortch has become one of those guys. He currently leads the Cardinals in receptions and yards and he’s tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
He saw 9 targets in week 1 and was able to bring 7 of them in. Week 2 saw his targets dip a little bit but he was able to find the endzone. At the very least, Dortch is a solid pickup for the near future, with Hopkins still on the shelf for 4 more games. We’ve seen from this Cardinals defense that the offense will need to throw the ball to keep up in games. I’m very interested in Dortch and will comfortably start him as a flex/2nd flex in deeper roster leagues. Even after Hopkins returns, Dortch could find himself in a solidified role on this offense so that is why he’s one of my week 2 waiver targets. Jerry Wilke @JerryWilkeFM

Jakobi Meyers has shown in the past he could be a reliable wise receiver in the NFL, and this year is no different. In week 2 Meyers had 9 catches on 13 targets for 95 yards. In his first 2 games of the season he has 19 targets which is 8 more than any other wide receiver.
His snap share went down from 88%to 82%,but I do not believe that is something to be alarmed by. Mac Jones gained a repoire with Meyers last season and it looks like it has continued. Meyers will build on this week and I expect for his involvement in the offense to increase. In the next couple gamesI thinks he will become the primary focus of Jones and the Patriots offense.
There has also always been questions about his touchdown production. But with his high snap share and targets In don’t see that being an issue like it has been in the past. As a WR 3/flex or upcoming bye week replacement Meyers will be the perfect play.

WR Ashton Dulin (IND)
This pick is mainly for deeper redraft leagues and dynasty leagues, though many folks in the latter group already have him. Rostered in just 2% of Yahoo leagues, the 25-year-old wide receiver had some camp buzz going into the season but seemed to be the team’s fourth option at the position. He has produced only somewhat modestly (8-125-0), but he was second on the team in targets in week 1 when Michael Pittman was active. He led the team in targets (while also claiming a 21% target share), receptions, and yards in week 2 with Pittman (quad) and Alec Pierce (concussion, 2 targets week 1) out.
Yes, the Colts’ offense has not looked very good, so there is reason for concern. I’m not expecting greatness from them, but I believe things will improve. We have to assume for now Jonathan Taylor likely won’t be RB7 (in both half and full PPR) much longer, and that the offense, under a good coach, will make adjustments.
As for Dulin, he has shown in this small sample size that he may well be ahead of Pierce and Parris Campbell in the usage tree, and if Pittman were to miss additional time, Dulin’s role could be as big as it was in week 2. Given the price you’d have to pay in FAB leagues, and the low priority he’d be for most league mates in non-FAB leagues, Dulin is essentially free and could be worth a flyer. Brian Ford @ffjunkie_
WR Noah Brown (DAL)
If you are hurting at wide receiver with Keenan Allen or Jerry Jeudy hurt or waiting for DeAndre Hopkins to return, grab Noah Brown. He is not the speediest wideout, but he has tallied 154 yards on 14 targets in the first two Cowboys’ games. Dak will be back potentially sooner than later, but Rush seems to like Brown’s efficiency and toughness. In both games, it seemed like he always found a way to get open. That’s obviously what we want to see in a flex option week to week.
Now, there is a chance that Gallup return in week 4, but who’s to say he will be 100%? We are also still awaiting the results of TE Schultz’s MRI on his knee. So the availability of some of the offense is up in the air. I snagged Brown Week 1 when Tolbert was ruled a healthy scratch and he has had two solid weeks. It might only be an opportunity for the next few weeks, but that is what fantasy football is all about, winning here and now! So if you are in a bind, Brown could be a nice plug-and-play next week against the Giants. Courtney Burrows @luvtractor3

RB Raheem Mostert (MIA)
As much as it pains this Chase Edmonds share-holder to admit, it looks like Raheem Mostert is going to be “the guy” in the Miami backfield. Mostert accumulated 79 total yards last week, including three receptions. He’s caught all four of his targets thus far and looks like a reliable option in both aspects of the running game, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He out carried Edmonds in last week’s brutal matchup against Baltimore’s defensive front and performed decently in spite of that unfavorable contest.
Mostert faces another uphill battle against Buffalo next week but then his outlook lightens up for a few weeks by getting the Jets, Steelers, and Minnesota. If he pulls out another decent game against the Bills, he’s going to be a hot commodity on the waivers and I’d like to get him stashed early. Cecily Riddell @MrsTeamRiddell
RB Jordan Mason (SF)
Elijah Mitchell is already on IR and now the Niners take another blow to their backfield in Week 2 with Tyrion Davis Price going down due to a high ankle sprain. With the current state of this backfield, Jordan Mason becomes an intriguing speculative add in order to get a piece of a high-powered offense. This is certainly Jeff Wilson’s backfield and he will undoubtedly get the bulk of the carries, but he’s struggled to stay on the field in the past himself and if he were to go down, Mason would easily become one of the hottest waiver wire adds.
Especially with this 49ers RB room currently in shambles. It is worth noting, San Francisco did sign Marlon Mack to their practice squad, so they could bring him up into the mix, but I would bet my money on Jordan Mason having the larger role behind Jeff Wilson. Get ahead of the curve and scoop Mason up because we know Kyle Shanahan isn’t afraid to use multiple running backs and ride the hot hand. Evan Ritter @ev_ritt3
TE Evan Engram (JAX)
Tight ends were made for quarterbacks like Trevor Lawrence. And maybe Doug Peterson is going take that and run with it. Remember, Peterson loved to utilize his tight ends in Philadelphia. After seeing (and catching) four targets in Week One, Evan Engram’s targets doubled last week. The percentage of snaps he played was about the same.
Trailing only Christain Kirk for receptions, Engram looks on his way to be possibly even the second receiver for the shaky young quarterback. Engram had the most receptions among Giants’ receivers last season despite only playing 15 games. Engram faces the Chargers in week three, who have allowed the fourth-most receiving yards to the tight end position! Cecily Riddell @MrsTeamRiddell

Good quarterbacks like Jimmy Garoppolo don’t just fall onto the waiver wire. The 49ers have solid weapons with Deebo Samuel and the ever-improving Brandon Aiyuk and honestly, I had my doubts that Trey Lance was ready to properly utilize them. Now, the Niners get to save face with a quarterback who has the proven ability to take the team to the Super Bowl. Even if you have a decent quarterback situation on your team, put that handsome, smiling face on your bench. Nathan Janasik @MeLlamoMoron
WR Ben Skowronek (LAR)
With Allen Robinson not taking over as WR2 like everyone thought he would. This may be that GUY. Just snap share alone, week 1 = 88% & week 2 = 87%. Combined 9 targets 6 receptions. Just for comparison Robinson has 7 targets & 5 receptions. He will be someone to keep you eyes on. Last year his highest snap share was 76% and that was in week 10. Not any other week over 50% snap share. Jaysson Barnes @FantasyJay77
