The Best Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 3 in Fantasy
As always, the GoingFor2 crew comes through with the best waiver wire pickups for Week 2. Some of these guys could have season-long value, others may only have a spot start here and there, but all of them are worth dropping a request on…

Okay, so coming into this season, I was high on Stroud and Nico Collins connecting and putting up points together, but I wasn’t anticipating Tank Dell till maybe mid-way through the season as it takes time for rookies. He proved me wrong in Week 2 as he had 72 yards and a touchdown producing 20 PPR points and finishing as the number 17 overall WR.
The next four weeks they play the Jags, Steelers, Falcons, and Saints. He might not be a play in Week 3 against the Jags, but I like him in the next three games after that. So, I expect Dell to be a waiver wire grab as managers look for the next Puka. Though it is still Stroud throwing the balls and not Stafford, in deeper leagues he is a favorite stash of mine.
He might not be the week-to-week play but can be a plug-in for an injury or bye week. I’d still rather roster Nico but I can’t imagine he’s available. Stroud will get better and continue to spread the love.
WR Isaiah Hodgins (NYG) 12%
The Giants offense took until its seventh quarter of play in 2023 to put points on the board. After that point, the Giants began to look like they did in 2022. A huge part of the offense near the end of the season was Isaiah Hodgins.
Hodgins is among the top three in both snaps and targets for Giants WRs through two weeks. Further, Hodgins is the sole receiver to record a TD in Week 2. Look for Hodgins to resume his connection with Daniel Jones as the Giants offense goes up against a 49ers defense that gave up nearly 300 passing yards in Week 2.
QB Jordan Love (GB) 60%
Did you maybe lose faith in Joe Burrow these last two games or are worried about his calf? Did you lose Anthony Richardson to a concussion? Depending on your league, there might be a few QBs left on the waiver to grab. Love would be a great addition as he has put up solid numbers in these first two weeks and will be getting Watson back soon…even better! I will admit, I was down on the Packers this season because Love was really “unproven,” but he is holding his own and 1-1 heading to a showdown with the Saints next week.
Week 1 he finished as QB3 and last week QB 16. He has 396 yards and six TDs. He continues to find the red zone and is starting to move out of the pocket as well with 35 yards rushing. The most impressive is that he has had zero interceptions thus far. I think he is a solid QB play moving forward, especially in SuperFlex and deeper leagues. I have Burrow in a few leagues and plan on grabbing Love for an insurance policy.
RB Matt Breida (NYG) 3%
Following Saquon Barkley’s ankle injury, there is optimism that he’s avoided a high ankle sprain – now, maybe I have a bias as a radiologist, but I’m going to wait until the MRI proves that before I start making any concrete plans for Saquon over the next few weeks. Regardless, it’s very likely that Barkley will miss this week’s game on Thursday night and Matt Breida will be the next man up.
Granted he’s likely going to be in a timeshare with Gary Brightwell, Eric Gray, and possibly the ghosts of Otis Anderson and Dave Meggett (okay maybe not the last 2 but you get the idea); however, Brieda can run a little, catch a little and if he can manage to carve out even a 40-50% snap share out of his opportunity he could parlay that into double-digit fantasy points, with potential for more.
Even better, he’s not exactly viewed in fantasy circles as a “high-upside handcuff” so the price should be right on waivers – AND if the Giant’s optimism on Saquon’s ankle isn’t realized by the pending imaging, he could be in for a lot more work (read: opportunity for fantasy production) over the next few weeks than many are currently anticipating.
It’s not the sexiest waiver pickup you’ll ever come across, but if you are hurting at RB like so many folks are, a cheap FAAB/Waiver dart throw with potential RB2 production for the next 1-4 weeks seems worth it to me.

WR Josh Reynolds (DET) 21%
Josh Reynolds has been Jared Goff’s favorite target next to St. Brown over the past two weeks. He was targeted seven times in week one, during the same week leading the team in receiving yards. In week 2, he caught 5 of his 6 targets ending the game with 2 touchdowns.
This high-powered Lions offense will continue to use him heavily until Jameson Williams comes back from suspension. Even when Williams returns, Reynolds could carve out a steady role in that offense. As of right now, Reynolds will be a great option to comfortably be thrown into your flex position which will get you points every week. I’m willing to throw at least 5-7% of FAAB budget to acquire him.
TE Hunter Henry (NEP) 48%
The tight-end position has always been a wasteland outside the top talents. Hunter Henry seems to be Mac Jones’s go-to safety net this season so far. This off-season I’ve called Henry a dollar-store version of Gronk for this offense. He finished with a touchdown in each game over the last two weeks. Let’s see if he can keep it up.
Now in week 3, the Patriots face a division rival. I predict Mac Jones is going to try to stay away from the Jets elite secondary, so he’ll be relying on Hunter Henry even more this week. Henry is currently TE 2 going into week 3. Although I don’t see this pace keeping up throughout the entire season, Henry is a great streaming option if you choose to wait on tight ends late in your drafts.
WR Jayden Reed (GB) 19%
One of my favorite late-round draft picks this season has been Jayden Reed. He’s very talented and that will earn him more targets especially as the season progresses. Reed has been playing over 50% of the Packers snaps as their slot receiver.
When he’s on the field he gets targeted. In week one, Reed had 5 targets. In week two, he had 8 targets catching 2 for touchdowns. Jordan Love and Jayden Reed will develop more of a connection as the season goes on. If you have a free roster spot on the end of your bench or your team is dealing with the injury bug, Reed is worth a look to add at the end of your bench.
WR Robert Woods (HOU) 15%
After getting 19 targets through two weeks, it’s clear that Woods will be heavily involved in the passing game on a team that figures to be playing from behind a lot. His targets won’t be very efficient and he may not find pay dirt often, but he makes for a good spot starter for the of the season, especially if you have a guy like Diontae Johnson sitting on your bench or on IR.
