September isn’t to far away! Which means the next couple of months are crucial to who makes the MLB playoffs. Several teams went hard before the trade deadline including the Yankees, Dodgers, Mets, and Padres. Looks like the front offices are trying to buy championships. Cincinnati Reds at New York Mets
The Mets are one of a few teams who are buyers at the trade deadline as they acquired Baez from the Cubs as they went into a complete fire sale selling Rizzo and Bryant as well.
The Mets will start Stroman (7-9) on August 1st. This article is written before game 2 of the series as this article is written for game 3. However, the Reds have defied expectations this season and have outperformed their haters. The former Blue Jay is has seen 116.1 innings of play with an ERA of 2.63 and a WHIP of 1.09. He also has 97 Ks and 25 BBs. Pretty solid for a pitcher with a losing record suggesting that it’s not his fault.
The Reds are probably having more fun than anyone else this year. No one gave them a second look yet they are currently 2nd in the central with a 55-49 record. Gutierrez (5-3) will get the nod at starting pitcher. He has pitched 60.2 innings with an ERA of 4.75 and a whip of 1.43 while string out 42 batters and 28 BB. His stats his batters have been carrying his record.
The Mets are gearing up for a playoff run after their trade deadline acquisitions. The Mets will likely be the favorite in game 3 especially if the Reds win or cover. Take the Mets in game 3, especially if they lose game 2.
Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta fans are praising the move to welcome Joc. Despite losing a couple pitchers, the Braves are still determined to make the playoffs despite a 51-53 record. Their is honestly a lot of baseball left and the Braves certainly have the talent to make something of themselves this year.
The Braves will start ace Charlie Morton (10-3). He has 116 in guns under his belt so far this season with an ERA of 3.72 and a WHIP of 1.14 while striking out 135 batters which are some solid numbers.
The Brewers who are dominating the NL Central with a record of 62-42. They will most likely win this division. The Brewers will start Anderson to counter Morton. He has 63.0 innings pitching with an 3.86 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP.
The Braves are super streaky and they are in a position to go on a win streak to make the playoffs as September draws close. The Braves dominate this series as the Braves are over performing. Take the Braves to win with Morton.
