Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies

The Brewers have propelled to the front of the NL Central with a record of 17-11 going 6-4 in their last 10 games. Not many analysts had them performing this well to start the season and their power-hitting ways appear to have returned. They will send out Houser (2-2) to the mound to kick off the series against the Phillies. He has played 24.2 innings thus far giving up 25 hits, 11 runs, 3 HR, 10 BB, and 19 Ks with an ERA of 3.65 and a whip of 1.42.

The Phillies have seen some mixed results this season, they have shown their full capabilities as a top tier team but have also shown many flaws. They are now 13-15 overall going 4-6 in their last 10 games. They will give the start to 28-year-old slinger Velasquez who has played 12.1 innings letting up 13 hits, 9 runs, 4 HR, 10 BB, and 18 Ks with an ERA of 6.57 and a whip of 1.86. Some pretty bad numbers skewed by a couple of bad performances.

Vegas is giving both of these teams an equal chance of winning at -110. The pitchers are both averages which means predicting who wins will be predicting who can go the yard the most. The Phillies attempted a 9th inning come back only to fall short by 1 run last night. They showed they wanted to win and their motivation should carry them to a win against the Brewers.

New York Mets at Saint Louis Cardinals

The Saint Louis Cardinals are riding high on a 4 game winning streak after sweeping the Pirates and improving to 16-12 overall. They will come back to Busch Stadium to kick things off against the Mets who are on a two-game winning streak after taking he series against the Phillies.

They will send out hometown favorite Wainwright (0-3) to the mound. The seasoned veteran has played 28.2 innings giving up 30 hits, 14 runs, 5 HR, 5 BB, and 32 Ks. He has an ERA of 4.08 and a whip of 1.22. He either gives up the hit or strikes him out. However, he still has some juice left and is historically solid at Busch Stadium.

The Mets haven’t announced their starting pitcher but it shouldn’t be deGrom. The Mets haven’t been great at hitting ball but have been hitting decently lately and I don’t expect this to continue in multiple games in a row. The odds are not yet out for this game but I except the Cardinals to continue their winning streak.
