Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres

The Padres are in a heated battle for the NL West and get one of the worst-performing teams on the road this season. The Padres are 62-48 while going 4-6 in their last 10 games. They will need to pick up a tad to take the division as the home stretch is almost upon us.

The Padres will give the starting nod to Weathers (4-3). He has been mediocre but keeps his team in contention to win behind his 48 Ks and 23 BB through 66.2 innings while maintaining an ERA of 3.65 and a WHIP of 1.23.

I feel bad for the Diamondbacks in general. They are having a historically bad season, especially with their record on the road. I’ll leave it at that.

Arizona will send out Smith (3-8) to the mound. Despite his record, he actually isn’t doing too bad this season but lackluster bats have hurt him. He has seen 85.2 innings with 99 Ks and 44 BB with an ERA of 5.04 and a WHIP of 1.35.

The Padres are naturally the favorite at home. Not a big fan of laying anything over -200 but this a rare time where this line has value as the Dbacks are having serious trouble on the road.

Detriot Tigers at Cleveland Indians

The Tigers (53-58) inch closer to .500 as they are now starting to encroach on the Indian’s (52-54) territory as they eye 2nd place in the AL Central. The Indians and Tigers will both be giving maximum effort to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Indians will send out Quantrill (2-2) to kick the series off. Quantrill has played 84.2 innings while striking out 61 and walking 30 batters while maintaining an average ERA and WHIP of 3.40 and 1.30, respectively.

To counter the Indians, the Tigers will send out Manning (2-4). He has only seen 38.2 innings with only 20 Ks and 13 BB. He also sports a 5.59 ERA and a WHIP of 1.45. Not great numbers.

The Indians are the favorite with an ML of -155. The Indians have more talent and get a home-field advantage while also getting the edge on pitching. Indians ML is the play but don be surprised if the Tigers cover the runline.
