Saint Louis Cardinals at Pittsburgh Pirates
The Cardinals finally gain a little momentum as they go on a 2 game winning streak and improve to 6-4 in the last 10 games. The Cardinals are 14-12 overall and will send out their ace Flaherty (4-0)in game 2 of the series. He has seen 28 innings of action giving up 19 hits, 13 runs, 3 HR, 8 BB and 27 Ks. Not terrible as he is getting hits from his teammates to help him get wins. He has an ERA of 3.18 and a whip of 0.95.
The Pirates have been over performing to say the least and are now 12-13 overall and 6-4 in the last 10 games. The Pirates will give the starting nod to Cahill (1-2). Cahill has 19 innings under his belt so far this season and has given up 22 hits, 16 runs, 2 HR, 5 BB, and 19 Ks. He has an ERA of 7.11 and a whip of 1.42. The large number of hits and runs is very concerning.
The Cardinals are the favorite with a line of -145. Pretty obvious given the Cardinals have an advantage in pitching. The Pirates have been over-performing meaning a skid is all but inevitable. The Cardinals ML is the play.
Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox
The White Sox lose game 1 of the series to the Indians by a score of 5-3. The Indians had the pitching advantage game 1 but that changes in game 2. The White Sox will get the pitching advantage when they send out Lance Lynn (1-1) to the mound. The veteran has recorded 19.2 innings of play letting up 16 hits, 4 runs, 1 HR, 2 BB, and 27 Ks. He has an ERA AND whip of 0.92. The number of hits is concerning but he has managed to keep them from scoring.
The Indians are now .500 on the season and will attempt to go for the winning record by sending out McKenzie who has 16.2 innings of play giving up 13 hits, 8 runs, 4 HR, 14 BB, and 23 Ks. He owns an ERA of 4.32 and a whip of 1.62. The amount of walks let up is enough to raise the eyebrow.
The White Sox are the favorite at home with a line of -175. These team’s are relatively even and should make for a great game. I have to go with the veteran Lynn and take the White Sox ML but don’t be surprised if the Indians cover the RL.
