Best MLB Picks: May the Fourth Be With You
Happy Star Wars day! Be sure to check out any relevant information before game time as this article is written the night before and picks may change with new information!
Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals
The Braves have to be the streakiest team in the MLB. They are consistent in their inconsistency. They’re now on a four-game losing streak after getting swept by the Blue Jays. The Braves certainly need to get their act together as the season drags on. They will send out Ynoa (2-1) to the mound to kick things off in this series. He has 27.1 innings under his belt this season letting up 19 hits, 9 runs, 5 HR, 6 BB, and 34 Ks. He has an ERA of 2.96 and a whip of 0.91. Some pretty solid numbers to start things off.
The Nationals are .500 overall and are enjoying a four-game winning streak. The Nationals are playing some pretty solid baseball and will send out Joe Ross (2-1). He has 21.1 innings of play giving up 19 hits, 11 runs, 5 HR, 6 BB, and 18 Ks. Ross has an ERA of 4.64 and a whip of 1.17. To be fair, Ross has played decent in most of his starts but hit lit up playing the Cardinals giving up 4 HR in one game.
The Braves are the favorite with a line of -135. Ynoa has been more consistent and hasn’t had terrible games as Ross has experienced. The Braves are streaky but I expect them to streak in the other direction. The Braves ML is the play although the Nationals RL is possible.
Houston Astros at New York Yankees
The Yankees have worked their way back to .500 with a record of 14-14 going 7-3 in their last 10 games. It appears that they have broken out of their early-season slump which isn’t uncommon for this team. They will send out German (2-2) to start the series off. The gunslinger has played 20.0 innings giving up 22 hits, 10 runs, 4 HR, 4 BB, and 19 Ks. He has an ERA of 4.05 and a whip of 1.30. He seems to either strike the batter out, or give up a hit which can be problematic.
The Astros are 15-13 overall and have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Astros have also appeared to get things back on track. The Astros will send out veteran Greinke to the mound who has seen 36.2 innings of action letting up 36 hits, 14 runs, 5 HR, 6 BB and 27 Ks. He has an ERA of 3.44 and a whip of 1.15. Looks like the veteran still knows how to get himself out of jams.
The Yankees are the favorite with a line of -115. The pitching is relatively equal and both teams are hot. This game can go either way which means the play is +1.5.
