Best NBA Picks Against the Spread 1/6

These articles are written the night before so make sure you watch the late injury report reveals.

Charlotte Hornets at Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are coming into this game on a two game losing streak after starting 4-1. They haven’t been healthy so far this season.

Gallinari has been out the past few games and his presence on the court has been missed.

Also listed out for the Hawks is Rondo, Snell, and Dunn. Bogdonavic was also moved to the injury report as game-time decision.

Despite all of these players out, Vegas is giving the -6.0 edge to the Atlanta Hawks. With all these players out, the Hawks are still dangerous with Trae Young having an excellent start to the season. So far, he is dropping 28.6 PPG, 9.1 assists, and 4.1 RPG. Great numbers for a third year player.

The Hornets are off to a 2-5 start. No one expected this team to be a contender but have seen a lot of improvement in play behind Scary Terry and Hayward averaging 21.6 PPG and 18.7 PPG, respectively.

They are also seeing decent play from rookie LaMelo Ball. His stat line through 7 games is 11.6 PPG, 4.9 APG, and 4.7 RPG on 39% shooting. Not bad for a rookie trying to find his way.

The Hawks are the better team and would tell you to lay the -6.0 if they were completely healthy. However, whether Bogdanovic plays could make all the difference, especially with Collins lackluster play of recently.

The Hawks ML in a parley is most likely the best move. But if you must bet the spread, take the Hawks -6.0 in hopes Collins goes back to form.

Boston Celtics at Miami Heat

This one should be a doozy. The Celtics have seen their fake share of injuries early on. They have been without star point guard Walker for the entire season, they also have seen Teague go down as well. He is currently listed as game-time decision.

Teague and Tatum have made an excellent duo so far season with Brown playing the best ball of his life. Th Celtics are certainly talented. With two point guards going down, they got an excellent outing from rookie guard Pritchard who dropped 23 points and 8 assists off the bench. They also got a whopping 40 points out is Tatum as they rolled through Toronto.

The Heat have Butler back in the lineup which will set up a battle between Brown and Butler. Both of them are top five two-way guards in the league.

The Heat are at home which gives them the slight advantage of being -2.5 point favorites.

The Heat are getting excellent play from their entire roster. The Heat tout 7 players who are averaging at least 10.0 PPG. Excellent sign of a healthy team.

The game has all the makings to be a close game which I was I would say Celtics +2.5 is the way to go. Tatum and Brown are hot enough to keep it close despite Teague being a game time decision.

Houston Rockets at Indiana Pacers

DFS NBA FanDuel DraftKings 1/7/19

The Rockets start 2-3 on the season and Wood appears to be all the buzz in Houston despite Harden requesting a trade.

Wood is taking the league by storm after going undrafted. It’s easy to understand why behind his 23.6 PPG, and 10 RPG getting around 38 minutes on the court.

Wood isn’t the only rocket averaging a double-double performance. Not shocking considering the other player is Harden. His endurance was questioned at the beginning of the season but that was put to bed by averaging 33.0 PPG, 10.8 APG, and 4.8 RPG. Hard to believe he still wants out after getting great play from Wall and Wood.

The Pacers are proving to be top contenders in the east with Sabonis leading the charge and the fans couldn’t be happier with his performance. They start the season 5-2 and have some quality wins under their belt.

The Pacers are getting some elite scoring from their players and one of the only team’s to have at least three players getting 20.0 PPG or more.

Brogdon has certainly taken a leap in his play and get a healthy Oladipo to start the season. Combined with Sabonis, they are deadly every night despite Warren battling an injury who is out for the game.

The Pacers are the slight favorite at -2.0. A number I believe the Pacers can cover. Wood will be put to the test with Sabonis down low and this matchup should be the difference. If the Pacers can render Wood ineffective, they easily cover.
