CFL DFS Best Dollar Values DraftKings Week 6
As with most things related to Daily Fantasy Sports, you take the wins with the losses. And that does not change at all with CFL DFS. Perhaps nothing exemplifies that more than the WR section from last week‘s article. I correctly picked the WR 1 overall on the slate, but I also selected two other wide receivers who combined for 1 catch. But here we are back again to identify the best DraftKings prices for Week 6 of the CFL season.
Quarterback
Zach Collaros (WPG) $8,900 vs CGY
Even though it might be a little early to say this, the upcoming Calgary at Winnipeg game could be one of the most critical regular-season games of the season. Both teams are entering Week 6 without a loss so far in 2022 and are certainly looking to continue their undefeated streaks. However, one of these teams will exit the week atop the West division standings. In a clash of titans, look no further than the QB position. This matchup will feature arguably the two best teams in the CFL, as well as the two best quarterbacks. So I expect a high-scoring affair, with a lot of pass attempts on both sides.
As for who is the better value, the price disparity of $1K is enough to swing towards Zach Collaros. And while $8,900 may not seem like much of a bargain, he is still less expensive than the Stampeders starter. Collaros is coming off a season-best fantasy performance where he threw for 3 passing touchdowns. It was the Blue Bombers’ highest-scoring game of the season so far at 43 points. Even if they do not replicate that in Week 6, Winnipeg might need to come close in order to ensure the victory against Calgary.
Taylor Cornelius (EDM) $6,500 @ MTL
With one teammate injured, and another traded away, it is Taylor Cornelius who gets the starting nod for Week 6. The Edmonton QB is listed at the minimum for the position ($6,500) which makes him a great value considering the matchup. The Montreal defense is in the bottom half of the league in both points and 1st downs surrendered per game.
Cornelius also has some great weapons to throw to. Although you will notice in the sections below that I am not recommending any Elks wide receivers. That is because I am chasing one particular Edmonton stack, specifically in cash games (more on that in a moment).
Running Back
Jamal Morrow (SSK) $9,600 @ TOR
Flashback to last week, and I recommended Jamal Morrow in the RB section of my article. Even without a TD, Morrow produced 23.8 fantasy points, mostly on the back of a season-high 6 receptions for 67 yards. This demonstrated his incredibly high floor that comes from his versatile role for the team. Morrow can produce in a variety of ways which is great for 50/50 and cash games. If he can find the end zone, look for Morrow to be a great contributor in GPP or tournaments contests as well.
Sherman Badie (EDM) $2,700 @ MTL
Here is that Edmonton player I want to stack with QB Cornelius. In the wake of some uncertainty entering Week 5, Sherman Badie took the starting RB role by the reins and received double-digit carries. Badie also caught two passes, showing that the Elks trust him enough to put him on the field in passing downs. An RB with that type of usage should be going much higher than $2,700, but here we are. Badie enters Week 6 as a great value, maybe the best overall value on the slate.
As referenced earlier, I want the Edmonton stack at QB and RB, but only in cash games. The reason is that one can capture most of the team’s rushing production for $9,200. This could be very valuable since the Montreal defense allows 106.75 rushing yards per game and 5.27 yards per rush to opponents. Badie’s passing-game usage just gives even more reason to stack here.

Wide Receiver
Eugene Lewis (MTL) $10,400 vs EDM
Whether it’s been the consistent QB carousel, or now a recent coaching change, the Montreal offense has been through transformations this year. One thing that remains consistent is Eugene Lewis at the top of the Alouettes’ WR room. In fact, he has almost 200 receiving more than any of his teammates, through only 4 games. However, because of this, the other consistent aspect surrounding Lewis is his DraftKings price tag. All season he has been above the $10K mark. So the key is being very selective in which weeks to use him.
Entering Week 6, Lewis is one of 4 CFL players with over 350 receiving yards. The other three all have at least 3 receiving touchdowns, while Lewis has yet to find the end zone. I believe that he is due for some positive TD regression. And what better opponent to correct that against than the Edmonton defense. The Elks have surrendered the most yards and points per game to opposing offenses.
Greg Ellingson (WPG) $8,800 vs CGY
Malik Henry (CGY) $6,500 @ WPG
Two of those players with more receiving yards than Lewis are going head-to-head in the Calgary-Winnipeg contest. But going at very different price ranges. This can allow to easily stack both sides of the matchup. Regardless of which QB you are selecting from this game, I would chose a WR from each side. Namely Greg Ellingson from the Blue Bombers and Malik Henry from the Stampeders.
I have written about both of these receivers before. Ellingson is about as consistent as they come. So far in 2022, he has caught 3 passes in every game, and has only failed to hit double-digit fantasy points once. Even then, it was still a respectable production of 8 fantasy points. He also entered the season as the most expensive option on DraftKings. So even coming to a new team did not stop Ellingson’s ability to produce.
Meanwhile, Henry is the surprising league leader in receiving yards (388). What makes this so unexpected is that Calgary has only played 4 games far (compared to 5 from Winnipeg for example). He was certainly not the top Stampeders WR on DK to start the season. In fact he still isn’t. After back-to-back 30+ point fantasy performances, Henry has yet to crack to $7K range this season. While he likely won’t sustain that incredible level of production, Henry is still a great value in Week 6.
Nate Behar (OTT) $4,500 @ HAM
Later on, in the defense section, I will elaborate on this point. But for now, I am not willing to invest to heavily into the Ottawa offense. However, Canadian Nate Behar comes in at the perfect mix of price and production. For instance, Behar is the only RedBlacks player with over 10 catches and a receiving TD so far this season. And it is not as if his production is completely TD dependent. In fact his best fantasy game this year came in Week 2 when he produced 16.1 fantasy points without finding the end zone. At less than $5K, he comes in at a perfect value range to take the risk on a potential reward.
Deep Dive
Drew Wolitarsky (WPG) $3,800 vs CGY
For those searching for a cheap Winnipeg WR to stack with Zach Collaros, I suggest Drew Wolitarsky below the $4K mark. With Nic Demski on the injured reserve, Wolitarsky becomes one of the main four targets for the Blue Bombers. And by far, he is the least expensive, coming in at $1,400 cheaper than the closest Winnipeg WR. If it means getting inexpensive exposure to the Stampeders-Blue Bombers game, than I am game on taking Wolitarsky.
Defense
Saskatchewan Roughriders $5,400 @ TOR
As you may notice, the Roughriders are much more expensive than any other defense this week. They are $800 more than any other unit, and $1,600 more than half of the field. Yet I still have them in this value article. There may be a few factors that initially scare some off of selecting Saskatchewan. Aside from the price, there is also the fact that this is listed as a road game. While it is true that they will be traveling, this will actually o a neutral site. So for this Touchdown Atlantic game, I could see Toronto really struggling to score touchdowns.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats $3,400 vs OTT
It’s basically the exact opposite of the Winnipeg vs Calgary scenario. Instead of two undefeated teams squaring off, we have two teams yet to win a game in the Ottawa at Hamilton contest. But the home team enters with one very obvious advantage. With the RedBlack’s starting QB out with an injury, look for the home cats to lay down the hammer. We could see several turnovers, or simply inefficiencies on offense.
I think this is the best week to go after the least expensive defense and select the Tiger-Cats. They may have as much potential as Saskatchewan, but at $2K less of a price tag. Considering the cost, I consider Hamilton to be the overall best value on defense this week.
