Cut’em or Keep’em Week 11

This week is an important week for many in fantasy football, as the trade deadline is fast approaching for many leagues. Those that are in championship contention are looking for that one last piece to put them over the top, while those on the outside looking in are looking ahead to next year. Those that aren’t in the market to trade should take a look at the waiver wire, as there are some solid candidates left that should help you in the coming weeks. We will take a look now to see who can help your team out and who should be cut. Welcome to week 11.

Keep’em

Rashaad Penny, (Seahawks) 27% owned ESPN

A first-round pick of Seattle in 2018, Penny has been a huge disappointment this year, as he fell behind Mike Davis and Chris Carson in the pecking order at running back. Penny has improved in the past couple weeks, culminating in a 12 carry, 108-yard performance against the Rams in week 10. The Seahawks would like to see Penny grab the reins of the RB job, and with RB being bone dry on most waiver wires, see if Penny can nab that spot on your fantasy roster.

John Ross, (Bengals) 18% owned ESPN

Injuries have decimated the skill position players on the Bengals roster this year, and the latest victim is star wideout AJ Green. The offense is going to need someone to step up next to Tyler Boyd, and that someone should be former first round pick, John Ross. Ross has been a bust so far in his career, especially with the expectations that came with breaking the 40-yard dash record at the combine. He will have to show that he is coming along if he hopes to help reduce the damage done by the loss of Green. He will be given a chance this week with a decent matchup.

Josh Reynolds, (Rams) 14% owned ESPN

Reynolds produced some quality games while stepping up for injured Rams this year. The news that Cooper Kupp will be lost for the rest of the season means that Josh will once again be asked to step up in his place. In his last go around, Reynolds caught two touchdown passes on 3 targets in place of Kupp. The expanded role in a high power offense will make him a bonafide flex option going into the fantasy playoffs.

Cut’em

T.J Yeldon, (Jaguars) 72% owned ESPN

Leonard Fournette is back and clearly commanding the lion’s share of the work. The addition of Carlos Hyde is not helping matters with Yeldon.  There’s also the possibility Fournette goes down again, but going into the playoffs that handcuff roster spot could be used on a better option. There is no need to waste a roster spot on Yeldon.

Taylor Gabriel, (Bears) 47% owned ESPN

Gabriel posted back-to-back 100-yard games in Week’s 4 and 6 but has amassed only 123 yards in four games since. He has a very tough matchup coming up in Minnesota.  Gabriel is used mostly as a deep threat in the offense and has been unable to find a rhythm in the offense. Mitch Trubisky has been on a tear recently, and it is concerning that Gabriel could not capitalize. It seems rookie Anthony Miller may be taking his work, and the plethora of other options means you can’t trust Taylor to do anything at any given week.

Tre’quan Smith, (Saints) 13% owned ESPN

The rookie is certainly a good receiver and has a lot of talent, but he seems to be getting minimized as weeks goes by. Nothing made that more apparent than last week when the Saints scored 50+ points and Smith was held without a single catch. He could have a boom or bust game every now and then, but is much too inconsistent to be reliable.
