Cut’em
Dante Pettis (49ers) 41% owned ESPN
Dante Pettis does not belong on a roster. A highly touted sleeper picked to lead the 49ers in targets this year, he has instead fallen off the face of the fantasy earth. Concerningly, not a single 49ers WR played more than 51 percent of the teams snaps Sunday. Pettis saw zero targets, though he did record one completion on a second-quarter gimmick play. Deebo Samuel has seemingly taken over as the 49ers number one WR. Pettis only has one target, one reception, seven receiving yards, and one completed 16-yard pass, in two games this year. You can safely drop him.
Dede Westbrook (Jaguars) 76% owned ESPN
Westbrook is part of one of the worst offenses in the NFL. They are near the bottom in every category and they lost starting quarterback Nick Foles to boot. D.J. Chark and Chris Conley lead the team in targets and it just isn’t enough volume to support three receivers. Westbrook isn’t far behind in total targets, but the air yards per pass on his targets pale in comparison to the other two receivers. There will be better bye-week fill-ins available on the waiver wire. Do not waste a spot on him, unless an injury happens to Conly or Chark.
Darrell Henderson (Rams) 35% owned ESPN
There was perhaps no rookie who had more hype before the season then Henderson. The news that Todd Gurley was limited with an injury provided hope that Henderson would be able to star for one of the most lethal offenses in the NFL. His talent and speed would certainly put him immediately into the RB1 conversation. The reality, in the form of Malcolm Brown, has hit. Henderson has received just a single carry and played only two offensive snaps through the first two games of the season. In the first two games of the season, Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown have combined for 250 rushing yards and three scores on the ground. Malcolm Brown has seemingly won the handcuff job, which eliminates all fantasy value from Henderson for the time being.

Mike Evans (Buccaneers) 99% owned ESPN

Mike Evans is not having a good year, and it is frustrating. Frustrating because I own so many shares of him in the belief that new head coach Bruce Arians would lead him to fantasy glory. His 13 targets through two games are not what you’d like to see out of a Round 2 pick, but he’s never averaged fewer than eight targets per game in a season, so hopefully, he can find his place in the offense and start producing his WR1 quality numbers. It seems that the majority of the Bucs offense has been going through a bit of slow start the past couple of games, with the exception of Chris Godwin. Hopefully, a matchup with the New York Giants puts him in a terrific spot to bounce back in Week 3.
Joe Mixon (Bengals) 99% owned
Mixon does not seem to be healthy after suffering an ankle injury in Week 1. He’s combined for, 17 carries for 27 yards, and five catches for 17 yards on eight targets through two games. He was hurt against the Seahawks in Week 1 and didn’t seem to be healthy in week 2. The overall effectiveness of his offensive line can also be brought into question, as it is not doing him any favors in the running game. Now is not the time to give up on Mixon, as he was likely a very high pick for your fantasy squad. The bills have given up some bog games to RBs this season, so remain patient. Mixon should be started in most leagues, and pay close attention to the injury report for any updates on his condition.
Tarik Cohen (Bears) 87% owned
Cohen has had a roller-coaster start. He had a solid game in Week 1 as he finished with eight catches for 49 yards, working only as a pass-catcher for the game. His workload decreased sharply in week 2, as he only got four carries for 18 yards and only two catches for 7 yards. It seems that David Montgomery is beginning to assert himself in the lead role of the Bears backfield. Cohen can still be a useful fantasy option in PPR, however, as he is still the back the Bears go to if they need a pass-catching back. His expectations might need to be lowered as Montgomery gets more work, but he is someone that you should hold onto for the time being.
