Cut’em or Keep’em Week 6
Welcome to week 6, as we are in the thick of the fantasy football season. Every week that passes by in the NFL season, the more and more information we receive about players. We have had some huge surprises, as notable fantasy stalwarts have busted hard, while others have come out of the blue to become fantasy saviors. it truly has been a roller-coaster season thus far. Hopefully, we can look at the players this week as a reprieve from the chaos, and see who can help your squad for the long haul, as well as cutting bait on those no longer fit for your roster.

Cut’em
Darrel Williams, RB, Chiefs (26% owned ESPN)
Damien Williams is back, and that spells trouble for the prospects of Darrel Williams. He didn’t log any meaningful touches during the game against the Colt, as he was only on the field for 13 plays. He is clearly entrenched behind Damien Williams and LeSean McCoy in the Chiefs’ backfield, as should not see any meaningful work as long tas those two are healthy. Barring another injury, Williams will not receive enough work to be relevant in the coming weeks. It is safe to drop him.
Derek Carr, QB, Raiders (19% owned ESPN)
Carr has had an abysmal start to his year. The release of Antonio Brown decimated his WR corps and as a result, he has failed to surpass 259 yards passing in any game this season. With the Raiders on bye in Week 6, it’s hard to envision picking him back up after he is dropped this week. The emergence of TE Darren Waller has helped some, but there is just no consistent threat on the outside that can challenge opposing defenses. Carr should be dropped for a player with more upside.
Keep’em
Robby Anderson, WR, Jets (59% owned ESPN)
Robby Anderson has been an afterthought this year after the injury to QB Sam Darnold. He had one game that was barely fantasy worthy, but he hasn’t cracked 100 yards, five catches or caught a single touchdown in any game so far this season. That’s pretty bad. In fairness to Robby, the Jets entire offense has been a mess since Darnold went out with mononucleosis. Fantasy players were expecting much bigger things from Anderson after garnering at least 7 targets in the last 5 weeks of 2018. Darnold is expected back as early as this week, so Anderson should again be the top target for his QB. Give him perhaps a week to reestablish chemistry, then start him with confidence.
Jordan Howard, RB, Eagles (89% owned ESPN)
My apologies, Jordan Howard. you were left for dead in the cut section a couple of weeks back, then decided to turn around and score 4 times in 2 weeks. Howard was almost nonexistent early in the season, with Philly’s running back by committee a mess for fantasy owners. Howard has picked it up over the past couple of games, and his workload has increased accordingly. In Week 1, he had seven carries, then just nine in the game after. Howard saw carries rise to 11 in week 3. Week 4 turned out to be the breakout game for him, as he totaled 15 carries on 53 percent of the snaps with three scores. Last week, the Eagles had a lead throughout the game and used Howard to batter the opposing Jets’ defense, allowing for another solid fantasy outing. In addition, head coach Doug Pederson has come out and said Howard is going to be the lead back on the ground going forward, and he wants to get him more carries. That can only be good news for Howard owners, and you should start him as RB2 going forward.
