DFS CFL Best Draft Kings Values Week 2
CFL Week 2. For those who read my Week 1 article, there were some victories and some defeats. I called a couple of wide receivers having big games, and my value quarterback was arguably the best play at the position. But my favorite stack of the week flopped and I recommended a running back who barely played on offense in spite of the starter being out. But week-in-week-out, I will continue to improve while bringing you CFL DFS content.
In this article I will cover the best player values for CFL DFS during Week 2. Pricing will be from Draft Kings main 4-game slate.
Quarterback
McLeod Bethel-Thompson (TOR) $8,000 @ WPG
In my opinion, this is a great week to pay down at QB. McLeod Bethel-Thompson surprised me during week 1. I picked him as the QB to target when picking a defense. Well, he was one of only three quarterbacks to score multiple touchdowns in their respective season-opening contests. After the surprising victory to start the season, Bethel-Thompson has been named the starter for week 2, and not just an injury replacement for Nick Arbuckle. This week, he is taking on a Winnipeg defense that could be without their top two pass rushers. I say play Bethel-Thompson while he is cheap and on the stretch as a starter.
Zach Collaros (WPG) $7,900 vs TOR
Here is one of the other quarterbacks to produce multiple touchdowns in week 1. A repeat on this list from the previous article, Zach Collaros certainly paid off his price. Once again in week 2, it appears that star Winnipeg running back, Andrew Harris, will miss another match as he has yet to practice this week. In that case, look for the Blue Bombers to lean on Collaros, especially to score. He has just as much chance as QB to produce a multi-TD match during week 2. However, Collaros is the cheapest starter on Draft Kings. It also creates some well-priced stack opportunities for this main slate.
Running Back
James Wilder Jr. (EDM) $8,700 vs MTL
If there is one thing we learned in week 1, it was James Wilder’s involvement in the passing game. When Edmonton signed him as a free agent, they clearly had a plan in mind. Wilder was on full display in the season-opener as he saw 12 targets (to go along with 15 rushing attempts). It is that that type of usage that would warrant a player to be the highest-priced RB. Even with the bump to being the most expensive RB on the slate, Wilder is only $100 more than the next RB. Therefore, I still consider him somewhat of a value. It is also Montreal’s first game of the season. I will get into that more later in the article.
Brady Oliveira (WPG) $6,300 vs TOR
As I mentioned in the Zach Collaros section, it appears RB Andrew Harris will miss another game to start this CFL season. In week 1, Winnipeg did not miss a beat as Brady Oliveira produced 147 scrimmage yards on 23 touches. The workload and efficiency that we like to see from an RB. I think he makes for a decent stack alongside Collaros especially in 50/50 or cash games. Like the Blue Bombers QB, Oliveira is the lowest-priced starter at his position. That’s what I call value.
Wide Receiver
BJ Cunningham (MTL) $6,600 @ EDM
Montreal had a bye during week 1. I am hesitant to pick from a team playing their first game of the year, especially against an opponent fresh off of a loss. That being said, we really do not know who will be the Alouettes top receiver. It very well could be B.J. Cunningham who is $1,000 cheaper than a pair of his teammates. You could take shots at any of the top three wide receivers in Montreal. Cunningham just allows for the most lineup flexibility.

Kamar Jorden (CGY) $6,200 vs BC
Draft Kings will adjust prices throughout the season. I already reference the slight spike that RB James Wilder experienced. Calgary WR Kamar Jorden also saw his price tag rise by $900 from last week’s. However, I do not believe that is enough of a boost. It is true that Kamar Jorden saw only 5 targets in week 1, as compared to teammate Josh Huff who had 8 targets. While I’m at it Huff is also a good value at $5,800. But back to Jorden. His 85 yard 1 TD game was impressive, but the fact that it was his first game in almost three years makes it even more so. During in 2018 CFL season, Jorden suffered a devastating knee injury where he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. Finally looked back on the field, Jordan looked like his old explosive self. He looks poised to take over as the top dog in the Stampeders receiving corps. I bet we see another price increase soon this season. While Jorden is at $6,200, I will have him in a lot of lineups this week.
Nick Demski (WPG) $5,900 vs TOR
Last week, I wrote about both Kenny Lawler and Nick Demski. Lawler especially paid off his price catching both of Zach Collaros’ touchdowns. However, when I wrote about Demski, I mentioned his slot receiver role and how he could help his QB against a tough pass-rush. The one element that Toronto really showed in their season-opener was the ability to pressure the passer over and over. In order to beat that pass-rush, Demski could easily see more than the 7 targets he received last week.
Deep Dive
Jordan Williams-Lambert (SSK) $4,200 vs HAM
If week 1 was any indication, Jordan Williams-Lambert is locked in as a top-three receiver in Saskatchewan. But he is certainly not being priced that way. Williams-Lambert is actually the 6th highest-priced WR on the Roughriders. If you are in need of a player below 4.5K on Draft Kings, Williams-Lambert is your man.
Defense
Calgary Stampeders $4,900 vs BC
Yes, I am going with the same defenses as I did last week. Calgary in particular has a good matchup due to QB play. During week 1, CFL veteran Michael Riley was in and out of the lineup and splitting time with rookie Nathan Rourke. While the B.C. Lions offense was effective, Rourke did throw an INT in the game. With the news that Rourke will start in week 2 against the Stampeders, turnovers could happen again.
Edmonton Elks $4,000 vs MTL
For a lot of CFL players, last week was their first game action in close to 18 months. There were some noticeable effects. Most games were lower scoring than expected so maybe there was some form of fatigue, especially on offense. Maybe it was the offensive lines, or maybe defenses were just that tuned in. Either way, I am somewhat worried about the Montreal offense this week. Since there are 9 CFL teams, there is a bye every week. This will be the Alouettes’ first game of the season, so I do not expect high-flying offensive results. The Edmonton defense is the third cheapest in week 2, so I like paying down with that first-game narrative.
